What the actual fuck. This is not some independent ridiculous account, this is literally the official government account of the most powerful country on this planet. Utterly insane to think about
Not the most powerful country, he's the leader of the most increasingly trivial and memeable country on the planet. He is personally turning it to shit and that will be his legacy for all time. Donepezil Don can't possibly comprehend how shitty he is, much less basic plot points from Star Wars...
I'm all for shitting on the US when it's due, but to say the US isn't the most (potentially) powerful country is an outright lie
Although as I wrote that I realized theirs 2 different meanings. I, and i believe the original comment, are talking raw power. As in all the military power combined. Which there's no one that comes close.

That's a great point. I was thinking entirely based on their economic influence and not military.
The power the US has for raw destruction is scary and needs to be addressed very seriously. I mean they're still doing stupid stuff like dropping planes in the ocean and revealing bombing plans through Signal, but it's important to remember that a group of children literally hold nuclear codes. I would argue that currently the USA has the most economic influence and military power of any country. But given the current laughable leadership and it’s policies, this might change in the near future.

Trump wouldn't have made it more than 30 seconds on Korriban. Say what you will about the Sith, but at least they don't tolerate incompetence.
Edit: Not that he would ever have hired fools in the first place, but can you imagine what Palps would have done to a PR team that couldn't even get the very basics of propaganda right? Their prolonged suffering would have passed legendary without even slowing down and headed straight for outright mythological.

I was expecting him to be done up like Maul or Vader... He just has a red lightsaber. The fact he looks like Palpatine isn't the stylization; that's just what he looks like.

dude's not Vader, he's Tarkin. Vance is the moody teenager from bumfuck nowhere who suddenly started sucking the spiteful old warlock's dick despite years of going on about how much he hates his whole deal, likely screwing over his wife in the process, making him Vader. and I guess Obi-Wan is Pope Francis because Vance definitely killed him.
The empire did nothing wrong
The greatest form of government is benevolent dictatorship.
The Empire is the closest thing to that, since you have a strong central government headed by a level of wisdom that could only be achieved through the force.
The rebels want to destroy that central guidance which connects the entire galaxy, and replace it with the same system that lead to corruption, war and power abuse that necessitated the Empire to begin with.
Sure, Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars, but it was going to happen one way or another. At least under his oversight, all of the separatists could be identified and destroyed, and the Republic would actually ve prepared to fight them.
If it weren't for Palpatine, the separatists would have easily broken the republic and lead to corporate warlordism.
To take what Thrawn pretty much outright says, because you see the events through the Rebels point of view, on their heads they just believe the Empire is continually plotting to do harm to every innocent little guy in the galaxy.
As we clearly can see, that view of the Empire is far too dramatic.
The Empire is a effective form of government in that it kept billions of beings perfectly fed and clothed.
Day after day, year after year, on thousands of worlds, people live their lives under Imperial rule without seeing a stormtrooper or hearing a TIE fighter scream overhead.
