Probably. But no journalistic outlet is going to call it "lying" without proof that the leaders don't sincerely believe what they're saying.
And that sort of proof is hard to get.
A huge part of journalism is avoiding lawsuits. Saying someone is lying (without proof) opens the journalist to defamation suits.
Articles like these price why this country needs the CBC. Keeping politicians honest while providing fair and balanced reporting is an indispensable task needed to keep the populace informed and democracy working as intended.
Mmm. I love me a good fact check.
