What's his website? That's a millennial take, from before we merged the entire internet to live in two second soundbites on Twitter, Insta and Tiktok.

[–] tiramichu@lemm.ee 30 points 1 week ago

Exactly. "kids these days" don't even know what a website is, all they know are apps.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Kids these days and their tickity tocks

[–] scytale@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

I’ve personally gotten more “what’s his/her/your insta?” than tiktok.

[–] ThraawnSolo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I can't tell if this shirt is outdated or could have made more sense by losing the website part and adding "his YouTube channel?". I may be missing the joke all together. Fuck I'm getting old.

[–] TheFunkyMonk@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You’re not wrong. Nobody has ever responded to a music recommendation with “what’s their website” before.

[–] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They did back in the MySpace days

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 2 points 1 week ago

Oh damn, that gave me flashbacks of trying to get my page to look the way I wanted it while knowing almost nothing about any type of coding...

[–] reev@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

I think that just makes it a shirt that I want to own. That and "kids these day"

[–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

For the past 5-10 years it would have been his Insta addy.

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

his YouTube channel

still old, they'll ask about his tiktok now

[–] Thunderbird4@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah, that is the joke. It’s kinda like The Pack type humor in that it’s mocking how out of touch the demographic that would usually make this kind of complaint is. Modern jazz musician culture is a whole lot of meta-absurdist humor.

Hmm... 🤔

Goes to www.louisarmstrong.com

Nothing there

Oh shit. He doesn't!

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

https://www.louisarmstronghouse.org/

Absolutely ridiculous that a jazz legend like him doesn't have a website but his house does. I bet that pile of bricks can't sing me Blue Turning Grey Over You

[–] Khanzarate@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably can, there's a speaker in there somewhere.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

Oh you mean speaker of the house?

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

weird. His estate doesn't have a site to sell tacky t shirts and mugs with his face or something?

[–] Fallofturkey@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

that’s a page, not a site

[–] refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)
[–] vala@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

This is a page on the site.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Wikipedia is not his website

Not with that attitude

[–] Una@europe.pub 23 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Is this the guy who was first to go to moon?

[–] elfin8er@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] SARGE@startrek.website 2 points 1 week ago

You're thinking of Lance Armstrong

He was a tall, bald black man who was a great actor and starred in movies like John Wick, and also did voice overs for tons of games, including Destiny.

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

French king who won an arm wrestling tourney

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You guys are both wrong... He was an Italian musician and played King Louie in The Jungle Book

[–] protist@mander.xyz 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

True story...Louis Armstrong was actually Disney's first choice to voice King Louie, but they decided against it due to the racist implications of having a black man voice an ape character. I think Louis Prima was a better fit anyway, he had a manic energy and is a little bit sarcastic and mean, where Louis Armstrong was just a very nice man

Prima is a better actor too especially when it comes to talking bears

[–] eta@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah the first guy to do a moonwalk

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemm.ee 10 points 1 week ago
[–] telllos@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Welcome millenial, whats a website? Explain the thing of the past!

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

A website is an app that's too poor to have it's own app
