I don't see that at all. The only MAGA that I'm still connected to on Facebook hasn't posted anything about the Abrego Garcia situation since it happened. He's literally doing the Homer thing, and the shrubs are his other posts about the weather and stuff. He went from posting about Trump all the time to kinda pretending like he doesn't exist.
Meanwhile, the MAGAts around my parents' house in the middle of rural Indiana have taken down all of their Trump flags. They were already at a low ebb before the election; now there are only two houses with Trump signs up on my route to their house, and I'm pretty sure one of them is owned by an old woman who can't walk.
This just isn't happening on the ground. Only on Fox, as far as I can tell.
My MAGA friend just said due process is only for citizens. I stopped trying to debate with him, he’s too far gone. I’m depressed about it.
Very disappointing. How does he say he's expected to prove that he's a citizen without due process? I've been wondering.
Unconditional trust in the MAGA authorities, plus unconditional disdain for all other authorities (trumps convictions are unjust politically motivated prosecution, he did nothing wrong). He turned his brain off years ago and just lets fox news think for him.
I live in a pretty maga area and I can say that maybe the support has dwindled a tiny bit around me? I dunno it's hard to tell. I can tell you for damn sure tho that there are still plenty of people incredibly happy with everything that's going on. Especially with the deportations. It seems a little less with the tariffs but even then a ton of them are very happy that America is finally standing up for itself. I'm pretty convinced at this point that there is literally nothing Trump could do that they would see as a bad thing.
That happened to a buddy in Florida before the 2020 election, people took down their signs all over. I noticed it in rural Washington as well. I guess they saw a black woman, got scared, and put them right back up.
Yah I am getting fucking SICK of all these "owning the right" and "leopards are eating their faces" memes.
THE CONSERVATIVE ORCS ARE CHEERING.
This "engagement culture" has taught us to keep clicking on things that make us feel good, distancing us from the truth and reality.
I swear the left has almost an equally distorted picture of the real world as the right, at least the ones who spend all their days scrolling their curated feeds. We are NOT winning, we are NOT sitting here smug while the conservatives whither into the background, they are fucking in control of the world's wealthiest, most powerful country and they are celebrating every day. The number of worried neolibs out there who lost their 401K's or the like and are booing Republicans at town halls are a minority.
I swear this is why we lost this last election. Too many people checked out, didn't care, figured there was no way people would vote in such an obvious crook... AND YOU NEVER CHECKED WHAT THE OTHER SIDE WAS SEEING AND DOING.
Fucking 55% of eligible voters showed up. And now we're gonna lose it all because too many of you thought yourselves the main characters who didn't need to make a choice.
I kept telling people that Frederick Douglas helped Lincoln's campaign at a time when Lincoln couldn't promise to end slavery. I got called every name in the book for suggesting that a less than perfect candidate was much better than an absolute fascist.
Related: a lot of our current problems have been festering for the last century+ since we didn't finish the job after the civil war. If instead of helping the landowners who incited the rebellion rebuild plantations without slaves and subsidizing their production, if we ignored the financial and diplomatic repercussions and just hung the bastards and took their assets, it would have served a much stronger precedent and then maybe we wouldn't have had organizations like Daughters of the Confederacy re-writing our textbooks for the last hundred fucking years. (My grandmother was one.)
My conservative relatives on the wealthier side are upset, at least. These economic policies and Musk's foolishness have soured them enough to question their media consumption.
The first concentration camps in nazi Germany opened in 1933
They mostly imprisoned political opponents first.
Hitler only died 12 years later. I recommend doing it about 12 times faster this time around.
Most of them closed before 1935 and then were reopened but worse in 1938ish
This was so obviously gonna happen with Trump back in office. But at least we saved the Palestinians by not voting for Kamala, right?
Remember they voted for the driver and we all have to be onboard for the car crash.
It's not a car crash for them.
They just want to make the rest of the country a vile sewer like the south is.
They simply can't process why everyone isn't celebrating the chance to be cruel racists, it's like people hating ice cream to them.
Agreed 100% I work around people that are Ride Or Die Trump supporters, and they are fully on board with crashing everything so as long as they get to own the Libs.
Hitler completely dismantled democracy in 53 days. Trump has been in office for 88 days.
The Weimarer Republic was a very young democracy, it existed only for 15 years and before that Germany was a monarchy. Trump is dismantling the oldest democracy at the moment
I don't think the US is the oldest democracy as San Marino has been around for a long ass time.
When exactly you consider San Marino an Independent entity could be debated but def older than the US.
I just saw this poll (not mine and cannot verify integrity), that if accurate, would suggest Maga are loving it.
I genuinely think that most maga just are fully uneducated about what is currently happening. Most probably don't even know that people have been disappeared. Their bubble is so fucking densely packed with stupid, nothing real gets in
How many have died so far on the el Salvador death camps?
The report says that 153 people died in custody after being arrested under Bukele’s year-long crusade against gangs, including 47 this year, according to the new investigation.
Starting to think this is a tipping point actually. I won’t hold my breathe but there are signs.
~~Please be accurate when you criticize the administration. No US citizen has been sent to El Salvador.~~
~~The guy the SC told Trump to get back was a legal immigrant, and a citizen of El Salvador.~~
Edit: Well. I'm embarrassed. I misread the meme and my brain skipped the "married to a" part.
Worth noting, though, Trump is talking about sending “homegrown criminal” to El Salvador prisons. Considering Trump does not define “criminal” as someone convicted of a crime, this is genuinely scary.
But if he sends a citizen we will totally do something about it then, right?
The courts will absolutely shake their fists furiously while the republicans in congress will sit on their thumbs while ceding all their power to the executive branch.
Democrats really have no power except to shut the government down. Hopefully they use that power in the fall.
do we actually know that no US citizen has been sent? Without due process, there's no way to confirm. Or am I missing something?
Hey entwine, just an FYI -- Kilmar Ábrego García was not a legal immigrant. He was an illegal immigrant (of course, this doesn't mean he was charged with a crime) who was granted a protection from deportation to El Salvador by a US judge on the grounds that he would be in danger from El Salvadorean gangs. He has had a work permit since 2019.
Nevertheless, he was not granted due process and this administration is violating court orders.

Even criminals and illegal aliens are granted protection under the constitution too. Citizen or not, in the eyes of the law, they have the same (ignored) rights.
