Trump truely is a master negotiator, who else could have come up with the genius strategy of: Make your closest allies and trading partners hate you.

Don't take this as defense of trump, but it is crystal clear that he doesn't give a shit about US. He clearly is trying to destroy it. It no longer looks like incompetence like in first term, but like a pure malice, he isn't even trying to hide it anymore.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 36 points 4 days ago

He doesn't have to hide it anymore. He isn't going to win another election, he will either not be president anymore or he will be dictator for life.

I don't know if I buy that because it would mean he was doing something highly competently which I don't think we've seen evidence of otherwise.

It is much easier to destroy than build something. I'm sure putin is also telling him what to do.

For example he recently suspended military aid to Ukraine which will result in deleting of anti missile defense. Well, but also in January Russia changed strategy when attacking civilians making them require more missiles. Looks like putin knew this would happen 2 months earlier.

trump was quite ambiguous about Ukraine until Gabbard was confirmed, I think the change was even the same day. Gabbard now has access to all our intelligence.

That's a good point, I was thinking the same thing regarding your first point but I'm so bitter I couldn't even give him that.

Boo fucking hoo. Like these tariffs aren't gong to affect us either. I hope this'll be a wake up call for americans who voted for him. I'm thinking about all those farmers in the mid-west and popular vacation destinations down south like Florida.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 26 points 4 days ago

So far it looks like those tariffs are used to making killing on the stock market. Trump announce them, stock falls, he and his friends purchases them at the low and then postpones tariffs. And repeat.

At the same time they are making money trump is still ruining alliances like putin wanted.

They deserve it for allowing Trump to win.

Yes, yes we do. Honestly, good. These knuckle-dragging red-hat clowns need to feel the effects of what we’re doing to ourselves and the rest of the world.

They didn’t listen to their fellow countrymen over the last ten years so maybe their wallets will get it.

Please, no one visit us for about four years. We deserve a timeout.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 days ago

That is funny you think this poop will only last 4 years.

Maybe Canada Customs can do extra long checks on anyone visiting US or coming back from US. Maybe even a quarantine order. There is a measle outbreak in US anyway.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

Yeah with the way they're treating their health and safety regulators, there's gonna be a ton of outbreaks in the next few years that I would rather stay the f on that side of the border please.

I did visit Canada this week though, and will again on another weekend while I happen to be in the Northeast for a bit.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

As long as they keep letting me back in, I'll keep vacationing in Canada in solidarity.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Oh well. What are you guys doing this weekend? 🀭
