They should know better, you obviously have a good keyboard and lots of free time. I wouldn't mess with you and I've been boxing for 20 years.

Lol you shouldn't pick online fights with people who WFH in IT ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] Sciaphobia@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Man never give that up. I left a WFH job in IT that I wasn't really happy with, but it was fine. Left to a company where everything was better on paper. Now I work 50 hour weeks on average as salary, and don't have time to even use my benefits that actively are better.

Never give it up. Neverrrrrrrr.

You could just leave and find another job again?

[โ€“] Sciaphobia@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm looking for a job in a different industry entirely!

Maybe look inti teaching programming. It doesn't pay as much, but it's very rewarding. Doesn't have to be with a university or something. For example, I teach springboot at a private institute. We have bootcamps, but also full, accreditted bachelors. I get to talk about talk about programming a lot, share my knowledge, expand my knowledge, give fun extracurricular talks every once in a while, write new coursework, write fun exercises. Maybe there's something like that near you

You programming guys are way smarter than me. Tech writing wouldn't be a bad pivot, but I'm a little worried companies will think genAI will do that work just as well as a writer. I'm actually looking at a pivot to HR, since I like the kind of people focused work and market research stuff they do.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness though. It's very kind of you to take time out and try to assist a stranger. ๐Ÿ™‚
