Let's go TACO, let's go!!!

Update: Yes, the Dems have been pretty much useless but they can't do anything when they have no majority in either the House or Senate and Don TACO is ruling by EOs.

But this is how you get him and them. Fuck the high road, hit them at their level. Call them names like weirdos and TACO. If anything induce strokes in all of them.

Honestly, satire is pretty effective. Hitler was obsessed with projecting power, and humor especially the kind many Jewish people used to survive the camps was a powerful tool for undermining that illusion. Humour takes power away from a thing. It's why it's great against powerful entities but feels evil when used against the weak. If more people had mocked him early on, the myth of a strong, untouchable leader might never have taken root.

It’s always baffling when a leftist jumps in to argue that pointing this out is somehow pointless or juvenile. Maybe it’s a lack of social intuition, or just a failure to grasp the bigger picture but too often, the left underestimates the power of cultural resistance. Ridicule, art, memes, jokes these are tools that shape perception and cut authoritarianism down to size.

And these politicians you roll your eyes at? They’re not doing it for themselves. They’re calling out people like you, trying to shake you awake, trying to keep the pressure on. But instead of joining in, too many of you just sit back, waiting for someone else to fix it all.

What is there to join? They're not doing anything.

The right certainly uses this tactic against the left. Look at all their cringe viral memes, online propaganda targeting generation z/α, & trashy displays on their cars & clothing.

It's like saying, look at the other team playing to the crowd, getting people excited and generally captivating audiences. Don't they know they're supposed to use logic and reason.

Our desire to shit on them has only alienated us from what works to win politically. That divide is growing.

It's effective if it's combined with action. If democrats are, say, voting in enough numbers to help pass his spending bill, then this already overplayed tease is meaningless. Democrats don't even try to obstruct. The least they could do is make witty satire instead latching onto anything with a hint of virality, beating it to death, and then beating the corpse.

I guess it's like fucking. This is foreplay. It's important. Don't try to rush things. Don't just rush in, fart on them a bit.

Don't over think the power of just teasing these fucking clowns. You're not going to get action anytime soon. Do what you can.

[–] hark@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Democrats have been doing "foreplay" for years. Trump is not a new entity on the political scene, we've already lived through a Trump presidency, then after all the noise (or "foreplay" as you put it) that democrats made about how criminal he is, they did absolutely nothing to pursue prosecution during or after his term. They've had years to do something meaningful and they've done nothing. This lame stunt will lead to nothing. Foreplay is supposed to be interesting/exciting and generally leads to something more. There is never anything more to democrats, they just make noise and beg for donations while things only continue getting worse.

Just living in the moment bro.

We don't get many of these. You're killing my buzz man

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

do something! Anything!

Oh, fetishizing action for action's sake? Can i ask what kind of people are known for that?

If we take literally any action, we're no better than the fascists.

don't even try to obstruct

Which thing do you want? Action or obstruction? Make up your mind!

[–] hark@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I want action to advance progressive causes and obstruction to block fascist actions. What you're describing with "do something! Anything!" and "action for action's sake" actually apply to publicity stunts like this free taco event.

advance progressive causes

Sorry but thats action i couornt possibly want for any reason, so just action for actions sake. Thats fascist. Youre asking for fascism.

obstruct them!

Oh, so do exactly what they've been doing for the past few decades? And, again; action for actions sake! You just cant not be fascist, can you?

actually free tacos are empty aesthetics that wear the mask of opposition while deftly avoiding any real criticism of their opponent's behavior, which they wish to emulate at the nearest opportunity. How the fuck is that not fascist? What the fuck is wrong with you?

But what if they just really wanted tacos? I feel like most people want tacos most of the time, and that's a pretty good reason to order tacos. So its not fascist because i wanted to do it.

This is beautiful, thank you.

Leftists are always against any actual action taken to oppose the right.

You sure you didn't mean to say liberals instead of leftists?

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Famously yes, every time fascism has been defeated or delayed, it was because good steadfast liberals made tacos about it.

It's why the fascists won the spanish civil war; not enough liberals, and the damn anarchists were so anti imperial they thought appropriating cuisine from their former colony was bad. Fucking wokeness ends with fascist victory every time!

That's why the woke must be exterminated! In camps!
