I'm no Canadian passport connoisseur but when were they red? My old one from 10 years ago is blue so I'm not sure what that's about?

It's also expensive and very shortlived, so it has at least that going for it. Source: found out my passport had expired 24 hours before boarding a flight; Also, austrian temp passports are also white

I think I get it. They are expecting the passport to be red like the flag.

I think their point is that there would be no reason to saying that it's not red if there was also no assumption of it being red in the first place
