This explains why they sent a bunch of rust bucket soviet tanks into ukraine. It seemed to have the opposite effect when they got blown up though. This feels like a deeply risky strategy with the risk being a mix of blowback and rallying your enemies.
The plan doesn’t account for one universal law: Russians always lie and steal.
In this case the people in charge of psyops in Ukraine pocketed the budget and just sent “yep, all good” reports upstream.
On the other hand, things are working really well on social media. Go on any TikTok video about the Ukraine war or about EU internal politics and within 1-2 minutes you have people arguing with VERY specific talking points and have 50+ likes.
And you can see when they escalate the basic talking points to Tier 2 Arguers, I had one guy claiming to be Irish know very very very specific things about some EU investigation that happened in Ukraine around 2012. Stuff that NOBODY cares about unless you're a hardcore Russia fan, a Russian disinfo bot or in a very specific place on the spectrum.
imo exactly what’s happened with russia… pre-full-scale invasion nobody gave a shit about russia… even crimea tbh people were mostly indifferent
now? i dont know anyone real that doesn’t think the whole country can go to hell, and that russia always lies
the standard reaction to hearing about undersea cables being cut is: fuck russia; we should bomb their fucking ships those absolute cunts - even if we have no idea if it’s russia or not!
win or lose in ukraine, russia has lost so much - at least for the short-term
