Except society often already relegates the opinion of women as wrong by default. The template leans into that. I'd argue that them questioning the meme template is a good thing because they're aware of biases pushed by society.
Just because it's a meme template doesn't mean it's not deep
I do not know where you live but i love in a country that is mostly conservative, if we don't count countries as iran and such (were the problem is indeed present) it's not a problem, i never heard many people assuming that women are wrong because of their sex or gender. Maybe yeah, i heard some old grumpy grandpa but they will die soon anyway.
The meme template is not that deep, only choosen because it was the perfect scene for a meme, the fact that there is a man and a women is because most people are hetero, since memes are more a thing about many people it's just normal that it happens
Edit: grammar
I live in the US with many good friends in UK and a few in South America who I discuss gender and unconscious bias with. Countless studies disagree with you including a broad UN study conducted in 2023. Women are still consistently discriminated against and the default unconscious bias is that women are inferior. Yes it's better (in some countries ignoring Iran and such) but it's still a significant problem. Your opinion here tells me you don't here about notice it because you choose not to. Go read the data.
The fact this meme spread without any consideration for the unconscious bias it plays into is exactly the point.
Then send me the study, thank you
Fuck off. You couldn't literally spend ten seconds searching?
They even give a nice little graphic summary at the bottom. 90% of people still hold some form of bias against women. https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/06/1137532
And this is a single study. Just one.
Spend ten seconds more and you'll find studies on the bias entrenched in everything. Medicine, politics, social norms, etc. Many places didn't include women in medical studies until 1993. We have doctors today all over the place who went through med school reading data and studies that didn't include women.
Fuck even the temperature we set thermostats in offices is biased against women as it's based off old studies done on the average American male wearing a suit (ASHRAE 55 was the formula used if you want to look into it, though for this one many bodies such as OSHA and CCOH [Canadian OSHA basically] now recommend better temperatures, offices have lagged adjusting to them). All my female co-workers have brought thermo bottles for years to warm themselves up.
Calm down, jeez;
I am not going to continue a conversation with someone like you.
And there's the handwaving "I'm the mature one" always used to shut things down instead of even remotely interacting with the actual message. Classic Internet.
why not swap who is 'wrong' in this meme?
why use the woman every time?
that's the thing with art. it leeks your self onto it. memes included..
I would've done it based on the direction or based on who i am honestly.
Probably a man choose the man as the one that uses librewolf instead of the woman Identification based on the identification they feel in the meme.
IN MY case i would've choosen always the left person to be in the right, whatever it was man or women cuz of the irony of the right being in the left and the fact i read from right to left in any language i know
but that's the point isn't it?
even a meme is deeper than it looks of you did it based on who you are.
Yeah it is, but you all make it extreme and make it look like that if you decide to use the man for the right thing then you are bad
if you dislike what it says about you, that's for you to process and deal with.
I've done nothing but point out what it's saying to me, and just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not being said.
real talk here....
its okay to be uncomfortable with what something says about you.
but you CAN controll what you unconsciously say. By starting to recognize these biases and start to examine the root, and decide if you want to change how you do that in the future.
I'm not even saying you have to, or even you should change. Just that if you WANT to change, you can.
Yeah...no that's not the problem here, i even identify partially as women and many friends of mine are women, i am not uncomfortable or anything. Please stop accusing
It's like if a hebrew said "Hitler is so right" during his reign
Edit: i added what i said in later replies
well we're not making things extreme so.....
as a trans person myself, I said nothing of your gender, and only spoke of your biases. just because your a woman, doesn't mean you don't have biases.
I would have biases on women when it harm me too? It's like if a hebrew said "yeah Hitler is totally right" during Hitler's reign
There are plenty of women who have biases against women lol
I am sorry for them tbh 💔
really, so being a women means your a perfect soul?
No, i mean that i don't want to shoot myself in the foot
and being a woman makes you immune to biases?
