Well it can't be me because I don't live in the US.
And over the years, I've heard the argument for bearing arms in case of government tyranny.. And here we are, government agency kidnapping people off the street like my grandparents were in Poland.
The only people who really say that are paranoid psychotic fascists who have been stockpiling weapons for decades
They’re now in control
An yet you still don't answer whether you would be the first person to pull a weapon and be turned into Swiss cheese. Regardless of how many people may or may not have weapons, only an extremely low % of people want to basically commit suicide by trying the above.
I mean someone just gather the suicide statistics and gather all those people who want to commit suicide and put them in a voluntary civil war up against the ice agents and there ya go. Two birds, one stone. 🐦 🐦 🪨
I've provided context to my question which I should've initially. I don't think it's relevant what I would personally do as the question is towards the argument for bearing arms (which I've heard a lot of) is in case of government tyranny. So let's try to keep it within that context, however, it is a difficult question to answer from my perspective because I don't live within gun culture. I believe what we see in US is heavily cultural. I may have a different view if I were born and raised in such a culture. But in short, the answer is most likely a no, regardless of how angry I am about it but then again...
Ok, as an "arms bearer," my answer is this. The laws allowing us to bear arms were written when those arms were equivalent or close to the top military technology. 100 armed civilians while untrained, would be similarly equppied to 100 soldiers. These days if 100 armed civilians tried to act in a coordinated armed effort against our government, it would only be a very short matter of time before they were declared terrorist and overwhelmed by billions of dollars of military hardware and equipment they have no way of competing with. That is of course with the exception of jan 6th where said coordinated attack was coordinated by trump, and therefore allowed to happen.
That all being said, I am an "arms bearer" because I used to hunt, and was never one to claim I had guns to possibly overthrow our corrupt as hell government.
The "resist government tyranny" people have always been a (very vocal) fringe group. Quasi-historical, quasi-fantasy, a little bit like historical re-enactors, but with a plot that makes it seem like they could be talking about today and real life. AFAIK, no one outside the groups actually think they will be the people to lead an armed resistance, mostly because no one outside of the groups actually thinks there will ever be a circumstance involving a widespread, armed resistance.
The one I knew, we're sitting in this little pizza shop having lunch, and he starts going on about how he's mapped the exits and positions of cover in the restaurant, in case a crew would barge in to rob the cafe and its patrons. Had his eye on a couple of people who might be troublemakers. Obviously had his gun with him, but probably too many people around to use it if the place did get raided. All in this nice, quiet, suburban neighborhood.
