So they're going to take a page out of Zohran's book and listen to others who aren't billionaires right? Right? T.T
I mean...
The head of the DNC said he wants a candidate like Mamdani, both in personality and policy, as the next presidential candidate. And he said that almost immediately after the primary.
Like, Martin has always been about listening to the voters, he seems to agree with Mamdani's principles, but it's more that he knows most Dem voters do.
He's not going to put a finger on the scale for anyone, so yeah...
In a fair fight why do you think we won't see someone like Mamdani? Are you just underestimating how biased the DNC was for the last decade that an equal playing field doesn't feel like enough?
Someone like Mamdani will be poised to win. But then the DNC will suddenly start pushing their candidate hard. They'll decide that they need a candidate that can at last truly appeal to Republican voters, someone who has bipartisan political experience!
Say hello to 2028 Democratic presidential nominee David Duke!
The craziest part is that the GOP would still run advertisements against him calling him a communist socialist fascist far left radical that wants to trans everybody and give all our money and jobs to those lazy freeloading illegals that he paid to vote for him.
No, actually, the craziest part is that MAGA would believe them.
They could run against clones of themselfs and both sides call the other radical leftists
Jesus himself could rise from the dead and they’d call him a radical commie leftist
Jesus already rose from the dead, it's why we paint eggs
They’ve shown they don’t like it when a brown man with a Middle Eastern name tries to give them healthcare
Which, to be fair, he was.
I'll believe it when I see it.
I'll never forgive the DNC for forcing Hillary or Kamala. If we had competent leadership who picked the candidate people actually wanted we never would have ended up with trump.
This is like if AOC gets elected president, and you act like she's trump, and you say you can't forgive her for trump's executive orders ...
You fundamentally don't understand what "the DNC" is.
I've been bitching about them for 30 years. Because we've had 30 years of biased neoliberal chairs.
I'm not bitching now, because we got someone who just ran a party without bias for a decade, even if you just heard his name today
Ignorance of a person's track record doesn't mean they never ran a mile
I know Bernie should have won in 2016 but Byzantine rules put in place by people who gargle billionaire cock got in the way.
I know that Kamala was hand picked without a primary.
Idk it feels like you're ok with sucking up to controlled opposition so you can get your smuggies in.
I don't give a shit about stroking my ego, I give a shit about progressing leftism in America and those two candidates were dog shit establishment picks that flew on the face of what people actually want.
I bet you're disappointed Cuomo lost
Then stop turning people off the Dem party, and start getting people "as left as you" to get in the mindset of voting in the Dem primary...
It's not going to be easy, because like we've both been saying, the prior DNC chairs were biased neoliberal pieces of shit.
But...
Even if the new chair still was, wed still want people to vote in the Dem primary. If you feel the resulting candidate isn't left enough, don't vote for them in the general.
But we fucking need everyone in the primary. Because if primary turnout is depressed, a neoliberal like Newsom could sneak thru, and if he becomes president he will 100% appoint a biased neoliberal as chair.
No one is trying to get you to hold your nose in the general.
Just trying to get you to vote in the primary to help a progressive get the nomination.
What is so wrong about that?
What do you disagree with?
Because there's going to be a shit ton of nefarious accounts doing just what you are soon, and I don't want innocent people lumped in with that because it will divide the party, which again is what neoliberals and trump want.
Nah you trying to say that my grievances aren't real or valid is the kind of shit that turns people off the Dem party.
I've already stated my issues clearly, you're just asking for an alternative wording so you can play semantic games.
You can't thought police your way to winning people over, this shit is why we keep fucking losing.
Maybe you should try listening instead of regurgitating the party lines
You are 100% correct, the DNCs primaries are so notoriously corrupt that republicans have attempted to copy super delegates. The party elite picked Hillary over Obama and lost, he was so disgusted by it he didn't even bother to pick a DNC chair, he washed his hands of them. Then they successfully did it with Bernie, the candidate with actual popular support was dumpstered for the bank's darling, Hillary Clinton.
Then instead of even pretending, we are handed the worst candidate who ran for president in modern history. A woman who is familiar with being last place in a primary against the walking corpse of Joe Biden.
People will reject Trump again cause he and Republicans can't govern. But the DNC kicked out David Hogg, a duly elected rep and person with real gravitas in the gun control debate, because he admitted the dems have an incumbent problem.
The DNC is truly a terrible organization.
I haven't said that at all...
I've explicitly agreed with you multiple times about prior DNC chairs...
Can you just tell me why you don't want to vote in the Dem primary?
Because I legitimately don't understand why people are acting like that's worthless
Its crazy because primaries are probably the best ways to shift the party towards functioning better for your interests.
This is a new sort of self sabotage I've never seen from anyone being serious.
I'm having flashbacks to the 2016 primary. They had a guy like Mamdani in policy and principle and decided to put their finger on the scale for Hillary. The 2020 primary wasn't much better, although it seemed a bit more fair however they could have run anyone and won. Have they finally learned their lesson? They'll probably be able to win with anyone in 2028 depending on the Republican candidate, so why won't they run a lackey for the rich again?
The fact that you keep using "they" means you don't understand the DNC power structure..
The chair is basically a dictator, 100% power, 0% accountability.
Martin ran Minnesota for a decade. Either he doesn't work against progressive and is a great chair, or he's completely incompetent at stopping them. Either way, this is our best shot to get a progressive to the general
Yah, I don't believe that at all.
If only you had a decade history of him running a state party up to the literal day he became DNC chair...
Like, you know people don't just appear out of thin air the first time you here their name...
Right?
Then you're a lot less cynical than I am. That'll fix itself.
I'd bet a lot of money that's not true...
The difference is I understand why I'm cynical, and how things change.
You tho, just saw everyone not liking Dems, somewhat understood why, and are now latching onto that as an unchanging truth of the universe.
Not understanding that things changeused to just be a republican thing, but unfortunately I'm seeing a lot of accounts online doing it while saying they're Dems.
Never see it in real life...
But online there's a lot of accounts who really really want to convince people voting in Dem primaries won't fix anything.
Which is weird, because a rational person who feels like the party might be biased, would make the logical decision to try and get progressives to vote in the primary.
Why don't you want progressives to vote in the Dem primary?
What harm does that do that you spend "free time" telling people it would be pointless?
What's the result you're hoping for here?
Quick edit:
Honestly not sure why I'm asking questions, you dont answer them and just keep making short comments telling people it's useless to vote in primaries...
They’re gonna listen to the non-profits that are paid by the billionaires so it is just as corrupt but with an extra layer of obfuscation.
What people need to understand is that the primary goal of the old gaurd at the DNC is to guard the rich.
They also need to simultaneously understand that supporting the democrats despite that and changing them from within, is currently the only pragmatic plan of action.
Ikr? I was about to say, "and do what with it?"
