So you phase, then the absence of meaningful matter to stand on means you are pulled to the centre of earth's gravity well.

You now can't unphase without frying in the liquid core.

the wierd trope about phasing in media, is your bottom of your feet doesnt phase at all, they give some kind of technobabble explanation, that your interactions with the feet is "normal as its not phased out like the rest of your body or something about your molecules is is normal interacting witht he forces of the earth. there was one incident in one of the batman shows? i believe where a person that can phase had some kind of accident and phase right through the floor and to the earth center, and dying.

Like the episode of Star Trek TNG where they could fly out of this ship from being pushed through the wall, but not through the ship downwards as they were standing on it.

i understand kitty pyrde might have some unsconscious control that your bottom of your feet doesnt phase, or is there some kind of "physics" level understanding, probably technobabble, or its only possible to phase in a foward momentuml.

but for tech that uses it like merlins phase shifting, or crystal skull, or any other phase tech, the tech probably has a failsafe in it to not phase the bottom of you feet. somehow even the phased portions is still reacting to the regular matter somehow. still exerting a "normal" force in a phased state. only one instance DCU animated series the phase actually phased through the floor and dying.

oh yea it was the pegasus episode, where riker found the phase shifting device, which is partially a cloaking tech, since many other cloaks are interdimensional shifters adjacent(like the sodan cloaking in sg1)
