Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I am also told that at least one fire station had kept their flag lowered, and locked it in place, requiring the fire chief to come cut the lock. Also that there are people sneaking around lowering flags.

He (Kirk) is just not that important of an individual to merit this kind of national response. It’s not on the level of the September 11 attacks. It’s simply not. And, I would argue it further divides Americans than unites us.

Speaking of September 11, remember that Donald's response to the attacks, on the day they happened, was to do an interview where he bragged about how they made a building of his the tallest in the neighborhood. And as always with him, it was a lie as there were several taller buildings nearby.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 7 points 1 day ago

That's really gross. I had no idea he was so callous.

I sorta love it. Everyone who treats him with empathy is basically shitting over everything he said and stood for. Its an awesome catch 22.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

everything he said and stood for

Charlie Kirk stood for nothing besides Charlie Kirk. Kirk was a lying grifter. He would have loved everyone treating him with empathy, because he didn't ever actually care about empathy generally; he cared about hurting other people to his own benefit, and that meant eliminating empathy towards them.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well I mean taking his words at face value. Either you should shrug your shoulders and say thats what he gets and his kids have learned something. That would be following the charlie kirk preaching. Or you say its horrible and express feelings he would deride for anyone else. So charlie kirk would not be empathetic to charlie kirk if he was not charlie kirk.

I know exactly what you mean. I just don't want people to lose sight of the fact that Charlie Kirk had no actual principles in any capacity. He said and did whatever helped him in that specific moment.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 18 hours ago

Yeah I just bring it up because it makes me feel a bit better to see the lowered flags and such. Its like they are giving him the middle finger.

I say something about Charlie every time I see one. It's become a game for my friend group.

They aren't kind things, but that's only because he wasn't a kind man.

At first I thought you were referring to the Mayor. After reading the article, and re-reading your comment, I now get you were talking about Kirk. Suffice it to say, I was confused. 😅

I edited my comment to enhance clarity without changing the meaning.
