It's literally the law and intentionally written to eventually force a vote.
There is a ton of fashy shit going on. This ain't it.
The vote will happen once the money for fines runs out.
What is the law? That Democrats have to sign "permission slips" which means they agree to police escort? I didn't know about this law.
Article 3 section 10
The Texas Constitution and House rules give the House the power to “compel the attendance of absent members”.
In legal terms this means the use of force, in this case the sergeant at arms. They could absolutely arrest them.
This is not unique to Texas.

She is already there is she not? So she is in attendance, and isn't absent.
Thank you for pointing out the law they claim to be using, but I have a hard time believing what they are doing actually qualifies under it.
Look, go argue with a lawyer on the specifics of you're looking for some type of loophole to fuck with the GOP. More power to you for picking apart the law. IANAL
But I do know this is pretty typical language when dealing with subpoena and contempt of court actions. The court has every right to prevent someone from running when there is a high likelihood of running.
