This is a response by the city to a wave of juveniles doing really shitty things in public, generally causing chaos, starting fights, breaking things, harassing random people. It has nothing to do with Trump actually. I was quite confused when I first saw this post because it appeared to me that Trump added a city wide curfew for all ages, but that's not the case. This is not news, it's the same curfew from a while back, instituted by the DC government, and for a legit reason...

Edit: I'm downvoted for stating the facts. Speaks lowly of Lemmy to be this stupid.

To be clear, I am in no way supporting the current regime. That said, here's evidence of a summer curfew for the same neighborhood, last summer. This does support the idea that it's just a repeat:

I think there is some confusion. Looks like the juvenile curfew has been around for a while, but recently Trump has taken over the police in DC and brought in the national guard - https://www.fox5dc.com/news/watch-trump-expected-address-dc-crime-monday-news-conference

Yeah, be careful, you'll get downvoted. People are such binary thinkers that they think if you point out one side is wrong about one thing, you support the other side.

This is an insane overreach what trump has done and it's fucked. But it's not a curfew. That would add another layer to it. A full on police state.
