Counterpoint: If we had taken this thinking in the 80s, when the first Mad Max movies were made, we would have missed out on a lot of money saving.
My point is: don't let movies or some bad recent news guide your planning too much.

Yup, if you succumb to the mentality that this meme is joking about you'll one day find yourself old, poor and dependent on other people.
Just to be clear, we're all already poor and dependent on other people

As opposed to tye christofascists who own all the banks deciding what you can abd can't spend your money on.
Saving is censorship. Spend the money you get on infrastructure. Invest in people.
