The sad thing is, while many of them are privileged twits, some aren't. Some are legitimately oppressed, but have been sucked into a weird martyrdom culture of perfection or death, or been fascinated by the bizarre idea of accelerationism - that if things just get a little bit worse, they'll magically get way better.
It is, unfortunately, a timeless human notion, as millenarian movements throughout history have shown. And as millenarian movements throughout history have shown, it is also a disastrous way of thinking that leads to immense suffering for no gain.
