Please.

The person in the photo is weak not because he cries on TV, but because he entirely argues in bad faith, has little idea what he actually believes, and is fully engaged in a culture war, with little focus except fearmongering and resisting anything that might make the world somewhat lively in a crazed aspiration to “rebuild” western civilization.

This meme is sexist itself; I don’t care that the person in the photo is a hypocrite. It is petty to the point it essentially platforms the person depicted.

Please be part of a cultural movement. The news used to bring on people from outrageous movements to mock them and instead it simply promoted those groups to a wider audience. The news has somewhat learned and you can see how delicately the NYT tries to dismantle Yarvinism.

Please please don’t platform hateful people. I’m here to escape them.

!Reprieve@lemmy.zip is here for male-identifying persons to get away from this kind of hate and find a better place to connect with their fellows where just regular normal people can talk about shit without judgement and without the specter of dumbass made up sexist shit like Peterson spouts hanging over them.

Disappointed but not surprised to see the downvotes, apparently there are Peterson fans here.

[–] chrislowles@lemmy.zip 8 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Worse yet, there's probably people that hate Peterson but love his tactics of just being the worst person ever in the "right way", you know people that think misandry isn't real.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 9 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Misandry exists and it's a valid concern for a lot of men. To write it off and pretend it doesn't is to feed more people into Peterson's cult. That's not to say that misogyny doesn't exist either, not that it's not as much of a problem. It's not a competition on how much life sucks for a particular group of people. We're all just trying to get through life however we can and everyone needs their own space. And so far 99% of men's spaces are this sexist alpha male pigheaded bullshit. And everyone is so afraid of making another type because they'll be labeled as more of the same. This is for just normal ass people who just need someone to talk to who understands what they're going through. None of the Peterson bullshit. None of the misogyny. Just guys helping guys. And it's telling that my first post saying "Peterson sucks" is very upvoted but my post saying "Peterson sucks, here's an alternative for men that's not sucky" is not

i only ever heard incel men, claim of significant misandry, while not even admitting to thier own msygony. sorry but that isnt true, thats incel, j peterson talk. yes there is misandry but not to extent that men claim they are facing, and mysogyny far outstrips any form of women hating men,.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 11 points 15 hours ago

I didn't claim misogyny didn't exist, I explicitly confirmed it does. I didn't say misandry was worse than misogyny, I said it wasn't a competition between the two. Just because YOU don't recognize it doesn't mean that OTHER people don't feel it's effects. For you to come in and claim to tell other people that their experiences are invalid because you personally don't believe in them is the height of narcissism

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

As a man, it's not even a comparison and it's insulting to women to even suggest it.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Specifically, no one is comparing them except you. It's okay for two groups of people to have shitty experiences at once. It's not a competition or a fight, I don't understand why people keep trying to insist on making it a "one vs the other" thing.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Really? Nobody compares them? Maybe not here, but... Seriously? Is this your first day on the internet?

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I can only speak for myself. If you're trying to lay the entirety of the Internet's behavior on a specific person or group of people then that's a pretty shitty personal take that you can take personal responsibility for.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Specifically, no one is comparing them except you.

You just said this though. How is this just speaking for yourself?

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Would you like me to amend it to "No in this immediate conversation is comparing the two"? I figured you got that considering you said

Maybe not here

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Why are you getting so defensive about me pointing out the behavior of other people on the internet? Kind of a weird reaction.

Is there a difference between /c/reprieve@lemmy.zip and !reprieve@lemmy.zip?

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

One of them is a clickable link.

[–] Flickerby@lemmy.zip 5 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Oh, they're both clickable in my client, that's very good to know moving forward, thank you, it's much appreciated!

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

Both clickable in Connect for Android too.

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 hours ago

The second one is linkified in my client (Voyager)

[–] theUwUhugger@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago

J.P. knows what he belies in! He just refuses to say openly! Like he refuses to say whether he is a christian, despite literally going on a show named Christian vs atheist as he is fully aware that they would rip several instances of assholes on his body! And I really really really don’t think that he has any plans of making anything of his viewers to achieve anything considering the ads he runs for his youtube videos

[–] flowey41@lemmy.zip 8 points 19 hours ago

can't believe i watched his videos

[–] Geometrinen_Gepardi@sopuli.xyz 7 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

He is also weak for not staying composed while being broadcast on TV. Control of one's emotions is a skill and takes strength. I'm not saying it's wrong to be weak though, everyone has their moments.
