Old White Guy: "We're doing more capitalism. You will live in the pod and eat the bugs and own nothing and like it. Nothing will fundamentally change."

Young Arab Guy: "We're going to try to make cost of living go down at the expense of private profits and turn NYC into a place where you don't need to be a millionaire to live well."

I mean, this isn't an issue of being "Twice as Good". It's an issue of being diametrically opposed to the ruling class.

Mamdani isn't Arab; he's Indian. A quarter of the world would be offended by the implication these two groups are the same.

Wouldn't be offended necessarily. He's Muslim and South Asian (parents are Gujurati and Punjabi) so it's easy to think that. We need to offer grace to people outside of our ingroup. They're going to know less and that's ok. Just like I don't know if O'Keefe is Irish, Scottish or Potato.

He's not an Arab.

Conflating being a Muslim with being Arabian is a good habit to break.

Absolutely agree. Especially since the majority of the world's Muslims (60%) live in the Asia-Pacific region.

The biggest Muslim country in the World is Indonesia.

He's Ugandan-born but both his parents are Indian and he identifies as Indian-American.
