Wait, why do I get less protection from police brutality than a US senator does anyway?
Because the senators are supposed to be immune from interference due to the fact that they are intended to be a check on executive interference.
The senators are also well known public figures. You can just go arrest them later if it is warranted.
They should be more protected in the moment than an average citizen, but held to a higher standard in the long term.
