Russian Telegram channels showed new footage of the fire at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

What is known so far about the incident at the nuclear power plant:

◾️ Last night, the Nikopol regional military administration reported that the occupiers set fire to a huge number of car tires near the cooling tower at ZNPP, which is located about a kilometer from the plant's power units.

◾️ The occupiers traditionally blamed Ukraine for everything and said that the plant was allegedly attacked by a Ukrainian drone.

◾️ Energoatom emphasized that the cause of the fire at the cooling tower was deliberate arson or negligence of the occupiers.

◾️ The IAEA said it "witnessed heavy dark smoke coming from the northern zone of the plant after multiple explosions."

◾️ The fire on the territory of Zaporizhzhia NPP has now stopped, according to the Dnipropetrovs'k regional military administration.

◾️ Radiation levels in Nikopol region are within normal limits.

Chief rabbi of Ukraine @RabbiUkraine writes on his Facebook page:

"The first photo shows my grandchildren hiding from Russian terrorists' missiles in Kyiv region in the first days of the terrible invasion of Ukraine.

Later, together with thousands of people, we evacuated them to Israel and Europe.

In the second photo, the same people are hiding from Hamas terrorists' missiles.

Two different parts of the world, but such a common pain and struggle... My heart breaks to see these faces, but I believe that the light of truth and faith will help us to go through these challenges

I pray to the Almighty to bring down his anger and fury on all those involved in the terror of civilians!"

Overnight on the 29/30 August 2023, Russia experienced up to five separate strikes by one-way attack uncrewed aerial vehicles (OWA-UAVs) - the largest attack on Russia since the start of the conflict. Explosions were recorded in Moscow, Bryansk, and Ryazan, as well as at Pskov airbase close to the Estonian border. The attack on Pskov likely damaged several Russian military transport aircraft. During August 2023 Russia experienced 25 separate drone attacks, almost certainly carried out by OWA-UAVS.

Many of these UAVs have reached their targets, which likely means that Russian air defence is having difficulty detecting and destroying them. Russia is likely rethinking its air defence posture in the area between Ukraine and Moscow to better deal with these attacks.

Previous strikes against Russian military airbases have led to the dispersal of Russian aircraft to locations across Russia. However, the recent strikes against Soltsy and Pskov have demonstrated that the UAVs have significant reach, making further dispersal more challenging. It is likely that Russia will have to consider the addition of further air defence systems to airfields that it considers to be at risk from UAV attacks.
