There is a post on the 50501 facebook page regarding this event. It asks for people to attend and act, in essence, as a security detail for the victims present. If you’re in DC Wednesday, go to support the victims.

This is the flag that I grew up with at my childhood home.
I “desecrated” it in 1989, when President George Bush pushed for a Constitutional amendment to ban flag burning or desecration following the Supreme Court’s Texas v Johnson decision.
It has been hanging in my garage for more than 30 years now.
I could never have imagined that this issue would rear its ugly head again, but here we are.
This particular flag is special to me because of its history, so I will not be taking it out to protests.
I do, however, intend to purchase several new flags and similarly “desecrate” them with the first fucking amendment.
I invite you to do the same.
