Tesla’s Q1 numbers are WAY down guys! The boycott is working! Let’s keep it up and widen our net.

Mother’s day is coming up soon, and I’d like to propose we all boycott commercially bought physical gifts for mother’s day - no amazon, no target, no walmart, none of that. They’re ALL complicit in this mess and profit from our disenfranchisement.

Some alternative ideas for mother’s day gifts are to stick to small online businesses and locally-owned brick and mortar businesses, or give the gift of an experience or something handmade.

Mother’s day is one of the most profitable days of the year for commercial giants, hence why they spend SO much on advertising playing on our love for our mothers and our guilt for not showing that love with our dollars. Don’t believe them!

They do not care about our mothers - if they did, they would not support an administration that routinely seeks to strip women of their bodily autonomy, their right to work, their right to vote, their right to exist as the woman they are on the inside.

Do you guys think we can get enough support for a boycott like this to make a difference? It made a difference with Tesla.

This then turned into things like me opening doors for her, which makes her feel like she's helpless. I've opened doors my whole life for others. I never intended for that to make her feel bad or helpless in any way whatsoever. I did it out of respect and because that's what I've always done.

But my intentions did not matter to her, and I accept that's her right.

My struggle in the conversation then became with how to create rules in my head for when it's ok, and when it's not ok. She said as long as it's not performative bullshit it's fine. I looked up what would constitute performative actions, and that became even more confusing. These are the things we ended up arguing over.

There were a dozen such things that started piling onto the conversation. It was two neuro divergent people having their first ever argument and we had no guidelines in place for how to communicate when things are tense.

That's all. So I should hand over the subreddit to a PAC and a Non Profit because of that?”

We want transparency as to what happened regarding the sexually inappropriate incident that happened with fungi that he admitted to in his since deleted comments. No one can post on the 50501 main subreddit. This is such a mess.

I know this sounds like a crazy idea, but I want to stop this madness before it gets out of hand.

I think that not just protesting, but also doing outright advocacy for the neurodivergent people.

I want to stop RFK in his tracks & prevent the registry from ever happening whilst it is in its planning stages.

Call me desperate, call me naive, call it dangerous...but I feel as if I have no choice but to do this.

I feel as though protests aren't enough, and I think that RFK & the HHS/NIH are much easier to go after/prosecute in a court of law since they are not the president.

The Research Council prioritizes and allocates funds on behalf of the state.

Now they are allocating 100 million kroner to attract foreign researchers to Norway.

The Managing Director of the Research Council, Mari Sundli Tveit, is clear about the backdrop.

– It is particularly related to the situation in the USA. Academic freedom is under pressure and funding is being cut, says Tveit.

The new scheme allows Norwegian institutions to apply for support to bring in international researchers.

The work around the new scheme was both expanded and expedited when the Trump administration introduced significant cuts to American research in March.

Tveit emphasizes that the arrangement will not be reserved for researchers from the USA.

According to Tveit, many of those who have been laid off in the USA are researching areas such as climate, health, and the Arctic.

– These are areas where it is extremely important for us to ensure that the activity continues. And connecting the researchers to us is a very, very good idea, says Tveit.

Lists with "illegal words"

She is concerned about what she sees as an attack on research in the USA. Among other things, in the form of restrictions on specific research topics.

– There are lists of forbidden words, that is, prohibited words that cannot be included in research applications, says Tveit.

She points to words like "woman," "black," and "climate change."

In addition, the Research Council is concerned about a lot of important research data that is stored in the USA. This includes important research data and results on climate change and health.

They account for a significant amount of the world's knowledge about health, climate, and energy, Aasland responds and adds:

– We have extensive collaboration with American researchers, and we want to continue that.

Positive for Norwegian research

The Research Council estimates that the funds can cover 30 to 50 research positions. The researchers will be recruited to both colleges and universities in Norway.

The rector of UiO, Svein Stølen, is positive about the new arrangement.

– This is very interesting. It can bring us truly top researchers from other countries, says Stølen.

The rector believes this could have a significant impact on Norwegian and European research.

– We see that there are challenges in the USA, where China is advancing. The fact that Europe is stepping up is important, continues Stølen.

The rector of the University of Bergen, Margareth Hagen, is also positive about the new arrangement.

– The consequences for us are significant. It concerns the fact that about 22 percent of the research at UiB is conducted in collaboration with American researchers. So it is clear that what is happening in the USA affects us quite immediately, says Hagen.

She points out that the collaboration with American research environments spans the entire breadth of UiB's academic fields.

– UiB is particularly known for strong climate research and also for a lot of research on global health, where Americans are at the forefront.

When things are gaining momentum, it’s completely rational to assume bad actors will try to divide the audience as much as possible, flood the channel, or even inject fearful content.
