Reddit has a decade long corpus of valuable knowledge from millions of individuals... Lemmy just doesn't have that scale or earned trust yet.

Easy.
Transition off fossil fuels because we've actually got shit loads of excess energy and have already achieved autonomy. O&G should be viewed exclusively as a revenue stream and, while it is lucrative, it's immoral in the face of climate change. Canada doesn't need nearly as much O&G as it produces so we can safely lower our output without risking our autonomy.
Get fucked op ed author and fossil fuel shill.
I'm pretty sure it isn't true and assume Trump misunderstood a general explaining gleefully that since the US manufacturers repair parts any country at war with America would quickly find its fleet inoperable due to the immense constant maintenance required for these planes.
But, the President claiming there is a kill switch should cause all purchasing countries to cancel their orders - if such a switch exists then there's a backdoor somewhere in the software and the US sucks balls at espionage so China knows how to trigger it.
No worries at all, the mistake you made is extremely common. The best way to think about it is that the tariff is 1/4, and the existing value is 4/4 so that's 5/4 total which means that you can consider the tariff to be 1/4th the original cost or 1/5th of the new cost - both answers are correct if you're careful in your wording.
In my initial answer I also referenced fence posts. If you're thinking about building a fence with ten segments how many posts do you need? Well, to the right of each segment there's one fence post - but you've also got one that's not to the right of any segment so you can either describe your fence as ten segments long or eleven posts long.
This shit trips up people all the time so no worries.
Aha, but a 25% tariff ends up taxing a fifth of the total value. I've been hit in the nads by enough fence posts in my day to dodge that trap.
We're a country with extremely liberal views on speech and sexuality. I support superimposing a Canadian flag over a little person in full bondage gear humping the leg of a pregnant woman while shouting "I want to go back inside mommy". That's the Canada I became a citizen of.
I'm pretty sure half the red states already block it.
Instead I'd suggest a more technically involved approach of blocking the middle fifth (a 25% tariff) of the screen of videos with a large black bar that has a Canadian flag and a beaver (not that kind) on it.
If you want to send a message it's better to avoid a full blackout since most regular folks will just assume it's a server outage. Make it clear it's intentional.
The word you're looking for is snowflake. Conservatives have always been the snowflakes who are unable to withstand any criticism while demanding the whole world be their safe space.
It's fucking ridiculous how they managed to paint progressives, especially PoC and transfolk who suffer from actual discrimination and have elevated suicide rates, as being unjustifiably demanding of rights.
Whenever you hear some conservative complaining about their freedoms remember Tucker Carlson whining about how unsexy the green M&M is... or just think of Jessie Waters' smug ass face. Conservatives are emotionally stunted and weak.
Based, you might prevent the entire covid pandemic!
I genuinely doubt it. And if he was proven to be truly Jesus and kept saying that then US Christians would either say "He doesn't understand the modern world" or reject him for some other contrived reason (i.e. he was corrupted by modernity, the machine caused him to lose his connection to God, etc...)
Christians are full of hate because they love hate.
And release an incredible cocktail of gut and other bacteria on the world to entirely change the course of history.
Obama was a huge wuss. He came in on promises of change and did nothing but continue to placate corporations.
