I think one of the problems is that you basically can't keep many roosters together (I'm not even sure you can keep two roosters together). That means that for a sanctuary you need huge space so that the roosters don't kill each other. So while I also buy eggs that guarantee that the male chicks will be raised, I wonder how this is supposed to work if I pay only like 50 cents per egg and half of the hatched eggs are male.

(Note that my knowledge on rooster farming comes from a German or possibly German-French documentary on that, so I might be talking out of my ass here.)

(I think I just remember that 2€/egg was the price calculated in the documentary for ethical farming without losses for the farmers. This was some years ago. To be fair - I'd totally pay that for an egg. Egg as an ingredient can be easily substituted and as a standalone dish it can be something special that I'm willing to pay for. )

It's bizarre to me that harcore vegans want to own a pet to begin with. Keeping bees for honey is bad, but separating a kitten from its mother at an early age and castrating it for your convenience and deciding how they live (restricted to an apartment or not) is totally fine?

I understand that most pets live a good life, but man, I can't bring myself to make choices like these. I mean there are ways to circumvent it (get an older cat from an asylum for example) but it doesn't really remove the "pet dilemma" to me.

So, it took me embarrassingly many shopping trips to remember to buy kefir. But I finally did. For reference, I chose Andechser Bio Kefir. But to be honest I didn't find the lid dripping. I shook before I opened and it was still fine. Repeated that a couple of times. Decided to leave some for the next day, maybe the consistency would change after opening. Still fine. Then I decided to let it warm to room temperature and still no dripping.

So unfortunately I cannot reproduce the scientific findings of @frosch.

I'm full of compassion for him and his family. But as an important religious figure, publicly saying that you pray for the fury and anger of your God to go down on your enemies is awful. I understand the sentiment. I understand the anger, I do. But praying for something negative to happen - especially when you are supposed to lead other people - cannot be the right way to go.

Pray for the war to end. Pray for peace. Pray for Hamas to understand their wrongdoings. Pray for the terrorists to realize what they are doing. Pray for them to stop and beg forgiveness. If you want, pray for God to judge them. But praying for violence isn't what prayer should be used for.
