The EuroStack Initiative has launched a non-profit foundation — the EuroStack Initiative Foundation e.V. — to advance European digital sovereignty. Announced 30 October, it follows a March 2025 open letter urging EU institutions to prioritize homegrown tech over U.S.-based infrastructure. The foundation is backed by companies including Nextcloud, Proton, Ecosia, Evroc, and IONOS.
Operating as a volunteer, non-lobby movement, the foundation aims to influence EU policy and public procurement to favor interoperable, open-source, and privacy-first European solutions. Its focus is on strengthening digital autonomy — especially for SMEs — by scaling sovereign cloud, AI, and critical infrastructure, reducing dependency on hyperscale foreign providers.
This is the way! Not as technologically advanced as the F-35, but much better than a switched-off F-35 anyway.
