Yeah, all of those sound perfect - should keep things nice and cheap and the machine will feel way snappier.

Honestly we're reaching a point where 32gb of system RAM should be the default for most people. Especially for games.

You're already probably not CPU-bottlenecked on the GPU - while you're playing games, you should be sitting at 100% (or close) to GPU utilization.

If your GPU utilization never hits 100%; then you're CPU bottlenecked.

Get a 1TB NVME Gen 4 drive, the speedup is insane. (If you have a slot for it on your motherboard; use this as your OS drive)

Get another 16gb of PC3200 DDR4 that's as closely matched with your existing kit as possible.

and from there, only a GPU upgrade is needed to get you pretty close to the top. I still like the 3060 12gb; because I play games that require a lot of vram, but choice is yours here.

Yes, but federation controls that on a wider level by adjusting what you're allowed to see and interact with. Therefore, someone above you gets to control that still. That's the point I'm making.

If everything federated by default, and users could sign up for filter lists or something to make it easy - sure. But that's not how it works.

Lemmy even did the same thing Reddit is doing now, where if you mentioned a certain topic they were banning people; but they walked it back. I believe it was even the same topic of Luigi and "advocating violence".

Well there ya go. Turns out the fediverse isn't about freedom from corporations - and it's just about creating your own brand of filter bubble.

And just think, you guys were the ones who didn't leave back when it was going down the shitter because you disagreed with the opinions of the people they were banning.

This isn't even exactly a haven for wrongthink either. /r/fatpeoplehate couldn't exist on Lemmy, so most people coming over aren't even really concerned with political opinions being silenced, so much as they care about their particular political opinion being silenced.

Dems have to start coming up with policies that the actual public like, instead of focusing on tiny segments of the population at the behest of the rest of America. They also need a populist candidate.

There's no way with a sane mind that anyone could take this as that.

He's claiming that Dems rigged the election and he won it anyways. Don't be a BlueMAGA.

Sure, would conservatives use this in less than a fraction of a second to claim that any democrat was meaning the same thing? Sure. But I'm not going to make myself look like a fool and stoop to that level.

Phone is on vibrate all the time. Signal only, but also have Pushbullet set up so I can send notifications when new movies/tv show episodes are downloaded and added to my Jellyfin.

Exactly how the world expected. We've all been screaming about this since 2016.

So you're only a net positive if you murder more than 1 murderer. Because if you murder a murderer then you become a murderer and we're net 0 on murderers. But the more murderers you murder, the more negative that murder number becomes.

You know they say "2 wrongs don't make a right" -- yes -- but maybe a dozen wrongs could.

Oh don't worry - Lemmy will soon have people posting child porn, gore, or other things en-masse before reporting the site/domain. I've seen it on almost every Reddit alternative since Digg shut down.

They'll run hit pieces against this place for being extremist, they'll do all sorts of nasty shit.

So first they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you.

I wait for a new season to start (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter); go onto MyAnimeList a couple of days after - then sort by rating, then anything that looks interesting in the first page, I watch. If I get bored or run out of things to watch, I go further down the page and pick more things.

There are ways to ...automate this... but I think people were getting in trouble here for those communities.

Trash Guides, Sonarr, Nyaa...is all I'm saying.
