It's a rigged game. It's like you're at a casino. It doesn't matter HOW you play the game, the casino wins. The way to beat them is not to engage with them at all. Established capital exploits the artist and the audience alike. You have to work outside the system of coercive control to have a meaningful effect that doesn't just get turned back against you. Giving the artist more incentive to stay in an abusive situation ultimately helps the platform more than the artist, as compared to spending the same money through a direct channel.

Not with the same dollar!! You can only spend it one place. The more dollars you're spending at Spotify, the less of your money goes to the artists.

Getting the artists more money is ALL about not using Spotify.

Excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking what they're selling.
Your self-destruction doesn't hurt them.
Your chaos won't convert them.
They're so happy to rebuild it.
You'll never really kill it.
Yeah, excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking what they're selling.
Excess ain't rebellion.
You're drinking,
You're drinking,
You're drinking what they're selling.

Rock and Roll Lifestyle

Spotify loves you for this. And the artists can't perceive it.

ABC results in voting NDP and sometimes Green, Animal Liberation, etc. but not CPC or LPC.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 9 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Pretty sure that was a given. Doesn't need to be said.

Yeah. No shit. The LPC is literally a right-leaning party. ABC means ABC. Glad you're up to speed.

Article contains significant errors. MEC was never owned by its members. If it were, we would have had a say when it was sold, voting on whether to accept the offer, and receiving a share of the payout. MEC was never actually a cooperative. I think there should be consequences for this deception. I also think there need to be more consumer cooperatives than there are. Please mention any you know below.

What measures are in place to ensure the continuing security of our moderation team? If it won't compromise them to tell us.
