Manufacturing is not coming back to the west. Capitalism will always seek for cheaper labor and more lax environmental regulations. We have outsourced manufacturing and pollution to developing countries while charging as much as possible to their customers.

Not surprising. What a sham. This is why infrastructure is failing and public works projects don’t exist. No money or incentives to build anything new and everything is falling apart. Privatization leads to eventual loss of services while they take all the profits.

The President in particular is very much a figurehead — he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it. -HHGTTG

Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. - Douglas Adams
