July 26th ~ National Disability Independence Day, commemorating the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. This was a monumental moment in Disability Rights allowing for inclusion of Disabled people in public affairs and ending centuries of segregation from public life. The ADA also provided Disabled children the right to attend and remain in public schools without fear of discrimination. The ADA explicitly prohibits the discrimination of Disabled people in all levels of government, employment, healthcare, education, and more.

The importance of making a showing on this day cannot be understated. It is clear that the government supports eugenic concepts and has so far supported the budget bill (aka the murder bill) which intends to quietly genocide Disabled people in America. They wish to cut off our life supports, medications, and treatments; to leave us to die painful deaths and say they are not the ones who murdered us. This is why we must make a giant showing of solidarity this Disability Independence Day. We must take a stand and say that we are not free until we are all free, and that our movement will defend the most vulnerable among us.
