There isn't really any point in comparing this to a games console. There would be no real point valve developing a console because pretty much all of the games on their platform expect to run on a PC so they'd end up having to emulate keyboard inputs as a lot of their library won't really work with a controller in any logical sense, so they might as well just make a PC.

It says that it can run Windows applications so it might be the first VR headset that you can actually develop a game on.

My understanding from the video is that the headset will run SteamOS itself.

I have several pint glasses in my kitchen and they're all different sizes, and even though I know how that works it's still weird.

Well they're really not. The vast majority of TVs in actual use are not 4k.

I have a 4K TV which I basically never use because the interface is so bad. I only have it because I was giving it for free I wouldn't have gone out of my way and bought one because my PC screen is fine for viewing content and it's where all the content is anyway.

Also the controllers are hall effect by the sounds of it. Which will be a jab at Nintendo no doubt.

I bet you can turn it off and just do 1080p gaming. I think steam analysis one said that only about 10% of people have a 4k display. So that's probably why they haven't over spec the system.

In about 4 years they'll probably have a more powerful version as well.

I'll have to introduce the US navy to concept of waterproofing

You could mine them in environmentally sound ways it's just that doing so would be expensive and China doesn't care so they just go with open cast mines, and render the environment uninhabitable.

But you could dig a mining shaft and do it that way but as I said that's expensive and dangerous, which needs even more money to mitigate the danger.

I suppose if we've got Einstein and Hawking we must have people like Trump to balance it out.

It was less obvious because the world was less connected and not everyone had a high quality video camera in their pocket.

The media could also be relied upon to edit in a favourable manner. That's still the case today, but he can't get away from the fact that every time he shows up, people film him, because he's always going to say something stupid. The idea that he might manage to have a normal day and not say something insanely dumb, is just inconceivable.
