When you already have more money than you or your descendants can ever spend, and you have multiple mansions, planes, and superyachts, you start coveting other things.

Now the new hobby among Sociopathic Oligarchs is collecting politicians like Pokemon cards, and certain ones are more valuable, like an elected high level politician. Of course, holding the leash of POTUS (Musk) is the most coveted possession of all, but holding the leash of the VP (Theil) is pretty good, too. Eventually, we'll see oligarchs assassinating rival politicians, so their personal pet can rise higher in rank, and thus elevate the leash-holder's status amongst his Sociopathic Oligarch peers.

It sounds like a Neal Stephenson novel, except it's real life.

This post contains more solid truth than I have seen on Reddit in years.

Some do - Bernie, AOC, Crockett, Frost, etc. We need to support candidates who are inspired by those people and their ideals, otherwise we just get what the Sociopathic Oligarchs pay for.

In a way he is correct - the manufacturing jobs we think of - good paying, good benefits, union-protected, etc - aren't coming back.

Does anyone believe that the MAGA Nazis are going to bring back the old manufacturing model? The entire reason they sent business overseas was to save money. Now that they've had a few decades of those fat profits, they want more. If they could only save on the expensive shipping costs, by manufacturing in America, but doing it the same way its done over there.

The new manufacturing model will be Asian-style sweatshops, no unions, low pay (less than minimum wage, if they can get away with it), teen labor, no workplace health/ safety/ environmental protections, mandated long hours, no overtime, no benefits, no sick pay, no paid vacations, no discrimination laws, corporate-friendly labor boards, high income taxes, etc.

We are already seeing a lot of serious discussion of new state laws that will do away with minimum wage, loosen child labor laws, bust unions, etc. They are already getting ready for American sweatshops, and NOBODY is talking about it.

Obama allowed the Republicans to viciously kick him around for eight years, yet he never stopped trying to appease them. He should have ruthlessly prosecuted the crimes of the illegitimate Bush administration, and showed the proto-Nazi Republican party that treason would not be tolerated. If he had, there never would have been the environment for MAGA to rise. But he failed us, like all those corporate, Republican-Lite Demopublicans.

Now he's still playing the same old game, like most of them, pretending that its business as usual, and letting HitlerPig get away with being Putin's muscle, as he actively, gleefully destroys America, right in front of our faces, ss he plays golf. Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

How long do we have to tolerate obvious TREASON before we stop it? Do we have to wait until the entire Democratic free world has collapsed, billions of people have died, and Sociopathic Oligarchs are sitting on top of the pile, smoking cigars and drinking expensive scotch, and gloating about their success, before we can finally admit what we already know right now, BEFORE the carnage - that the destruction of Democracy was their plan all along?

It's time for some coalition of respected leaders, including military, to step up and end this madness decisively. There are a lot of potential tipping points (a war against NATO allies, leaving NATO, an alliance with Russia/ China/ N Korea, attacking Canada/Mexico, giving away Alaska and/or Taiwan, a draft, disappearing American citizens without due process, designating citizens as terrorists for exercising free speech, etc), but the one bright red line that can NEVER be crossed, is elections. If HitlerPig suspends elections for ANY reason at all, it will become time to literally execute the entire MAGA leadership. That is precisely why the Founding Fathers created the 2nd Amendment, and we should honor them by applying it as they intended.

Your prediction is based on this being a drop based on normal market fluctuations, but that's not what this is. This drop is based on just the NEWS of tariffs that ALL economists recognize will be disastrous. Wait until the tariffs are actually in place, prices rise steeply, spending plunges, and the ripple effect moves across the entire global economy. That 17% drop won't be some random sawtooth on a chart, it will be the first dip in a steady long-term downward trend.

Obviously nonsense. He doesn't have any friends.

The one thing that might save us is the MAGA obsession with forcing their virtuosic incompetence on everything and everyone. Their inevitable failure is built into their system.

Meanwhile, anyone with competence and experience is now playing for the opposing team, so if the Dems can manage to regain power, they will have a deep bench to draw from.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 5 months ago

That's the big difference. I like MAGA Nazis best when they're dead.

Yeah, I shouldn't have made it sound like her brand of politics isnt important. I also heavily agree with her politics.

There are others who have the same ideals, but they arent considered the leaders of the young progressives, and Bernie's heir apparent. The reason she is out front is because she has never been afraid to get in people's faces when they come after her. They demonized Hillary for 30 years, and in the end it was what blocked her path to the White House. AOC isn't going to let them do the same thing to her.

Her Politics of the People make us trust her, but its her relentless strength that makes us want her to lead us. That will only increase as she spends time in the Senate, and we see her grow. It would be great to see her in the presidency in her 30s, but she'll do a better job in her more-experienced 40s.

If America lasts that long.

That's why he needs to resign now, so she can navigate whatever mechanism NY has to replace him (special election or governnor appointment). He might as well quit now, he has no coherent plan to resist the Nazis for the next 3 years, just appeasement and capitulation. Get out of the way and let someone who wants to do the job have a crack at it.
