I’ve never seen a cop car with anything other than some variant of “police”, the name of the jurisdiction, and very occasionally, a slogan like “protect and serve” or whatever.

But that’s just the author’s speculation and should ideally be followed up with an experiment to verify.
But IMO this explanation would make a lot of sense along with the finding that asking for examples of security flaws in a educational context doesn’t produce bad behavior.
The multiple power supplies are for redundancy. It will work with one plugged in but you are “supposed” to plug in both.
It’s fundamentally not that different from a consumer desktop. Plug in a monitor and a keyboard and a USB with your preferred flavor of headless Linux installer on it. Configure ssh as the first thing you do because you won’t want to plug the monitor and keyboard into it every time you need to tweak something.
You can probably find VGA to HDMI adapters if you can’t find a monitor with VGA support.
Only downsides of Signal are 1. It’s centralized 2. You have to sign up with a phone number.
It’s secure, cross platform, and easy to set up and use.
Probably most importantly, it’s a similar experience to using other popular texting apps and the set-up experience is familiar to anyone singing into any big-brand-name app, making it a relatively easy sell to non-techies.

You laugh but if you ever take a college physics class you’ll appreciate having the idea of being overly careful of your units drilled into you.
A pet peeve of mine is when a work of fiction either breaks its own rules or real physics in a way that isn’t justified.
I’ve had people go “what do you mean X is unrealistic? It has magic flying creatures of course it’s unrealistic!”
A fiction should still follow its own rules, and should follow real physics to the extent it borrows from it! Anything else is just lazy.
