it can't. it does most things ok, but if I had to move my communities there, it would be hellish to get stuff running the way discord runs them.
yeah I left reddit completely and moved to lemmy. but search results still show reddit threads sometimes. so that particular thing is malicious to everyone and has very little to do with reddit.
its just shitty. a much better way to do it would be to edit the comment with an addendum to say how crap reddit is and there are alternatives with a link.
don't punish normal people who are desperate to find a solution to something.
the app allows for purchases of stuff that's advertised.
they're buying the products, actually.
imagine charging for displaying content you didn't even make.

what's with this curmudgeon type shit? their livelihood is at risk. just because you're not part of the ecosystem doesn't mean you need to dismiss a way to make money thats worked for quite a few people.
