Idk if "descendants of omnivores" counts because then you could exclude a number of critters like pigs for being "descendants of herbivores" and then 'why do pigs have forward facing eyes?'

The obvious caveat is that pandas at the minimum don't have selective pressure for side eyes or they have something pressuring stereoscopic vision even more similar to how aquatic animals have less selective pressure for forward facing eyes.

I would imagine the way pandas eat bamboo stalks is more visual than most herbivores and that alone could help them retain steroscopic vision.

Early in the 1900s for a very brief period eugenics was thought to be a way to rid the world of disease, before it became clear what it would entail. The amendment to ban alcohol and the amendment to unban alcohol were both part of the progressive movement as well. So nailing down what is centrist, progressive, right wing is very much time dependent.

Abortion was very much popular in non catholic churches until the 1980s when republicans roped it into the culture war.

A) bring back third spaces where people can meet up and socialize without money. Decent wages so people have free time. Unions so people have breaks and rights. Walkable cities where you can run into another person and have a chat without being run over by a car.

B) authoritarian police state where porn is banned but the government has 10gb of photos of your genitals and sells it to advertisers who send you coupons for diapers when you fuck.

I was more getting at the headline but yeah that's a larger problem with "left right" analysis in that is both a shifting target (example: in the 1900s eugenics was 'progressive' ) and its a fuzzy target where both sides might have similar policy stances in places but arrive there by very different paths (example: opposition to Israel).

Its such incoherent policy.

If you want to bring jerbs back to the US just put a tax on outsourced services like call centers. Taxing goods is stupid shit, imo.

  1. subsidize domestic goods
  2. tax outsourced services - this also solves the tax haven issue.

Yeah the non korea charts appear to show young men being more centrist (+0) and women being more left.

If a squirrel falls they're probably not going to squish as hard as a monkey. Lots of scavengers also have forward facing eyes (ex racoons) and pandas notably have forward facing eyes and are herbivorous.

I think the climbing and jumping theory is better than the predator theory on account that it explains why large aquatic animals aren't selected for close frontal eyes.

Plus many predators (cats notably) do climb and jump. Humans and monkeys also have werd postures that might lead to them falling over easier.

In reality its probably never just one pressure that leads to these kind of evolutions.

Schools haven't "learned" this behavior, they've been incentivized for it. All you'd have to do is make public funding contingent on a flat baseline cost - everybody pays the same minimal amount for tuition and books.

Student debt has been increasing faster than ceo pay. Its not a sustainable system but it also will lead to more companies importing workers with hb1 visas, which is probably honestly the corporate plan.

Why pay for workers with rights to go to school when you can just import people who already have a degree you didnt pay for and who you can treat like shit?

I'd like to see what drugs the original poster is on when making a post.
