I dont know of any directly comparable assistants from europe unfortunately. Mistral AI is French and produces a decent LLM, but I was underwhelmed with the software ecosystem. It's essentially just a chatbot.

I've been doing a 90 day test of perplexity pro and so far it's my front runner. They recently released an assistant that can launch in place of google assistants, it's able to use screen context and interact with some apps, you can limit what info they collect, they don't sell your data, and it connects to multiple models.

Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought X angle was to get the larger corpo users to buy in such as Nintendo share function, news orgs that would aggregate tweets, universities that used it for research and such. But I agree regarding reddit, definitely wanted to drive users to their engagement ads.

Its been some time since xitter, reddit, and other sites began paywalling their API, causing third party integrations and apps to collapse.

I'm wondering, did any of these sites end up with paying customers for the API? Are there examples of third parties paying to continue their services? These sites sacrificed massive amounts of community and developer good will to privatize the internet - how did it work out for them long term?

For a private voice group, could you use something like mumble? It's still out there, doing voice well.

In the United States war and martial law does not stop the election cycle. There is zero precedent to support this, even Roosevelt had to campaign during WW2. In fact, the constitution is quite clear on the opposite - it perscribes elections must be held, offering no mechanisms for deferment.

Reddit (and by extension, Lemmy) likely wouldn't exist without Kevin Rose. He both popularized the concept of user driven link aggregators and royally screwed digg during a big redesign, pushing the users to reddit.

Alexis Ohanian is generally considered a "better" cofounder of reddit (or atleast, not spez). I think the two combining forces to relaunch an OG site is newsworthy.

If it's a positive, will remain to be seen. I won't go back to a closed/non-federated platform, personally.

Immediate follow up should have been deafening silence only broken by the journalist clarifying he did say it, and if he's intended to formally retract his accusation. I'm so tired.

Why is the room laughing? That's infuriating.

Summary

Masked neo-Nazis marched through Columbus, Ohio’s Short North neighborhood on Saturday, displaying swastika flags and making racist and antisemitic statements.

Police are investigating, and no arrests have been reported.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Columbus officials condemned the display, emphasizing that hate and bigotry have no place in the state.

The incident follows a similar demonstration in Michigan last week, where masked protesters displayed Nazi flags outside a performance of The Diary of Anne Frank.

After nearly 2 decades of Sherrod Brown representing Ohio in the Senate, Republicans have successfully bucked him from the seat.

Wow what a win! What do you hope he accomplishes in the first 90 days? What are you most excited for?

Edit- please don't downvote if you don't like him just move on. This is the state's reality, he's going to be writing and signing policies on our behalf.

Gonna disagree, we needed more Heroes, but from a writing team with a vision and purpose. Or at least one that understood the character driven nature of the first season was it's selling point, not just the half baked superhero action. The '07 writers strike really screwed that show.
