now that i look it up, he does already condemn israel much more than palestine (and gotten flak for it). he even called israel a war criminal back in oct 2023. i wonder how this hasn't caused certain senators including MAGA to try and cancel him yet...

It hardly matters at this point. Even if it wasn't malicious at first, it became malicious as soon as he doubled down, and tripled down, and quadrupled down...
Not having heard the jokes under "discussion" here, I cannot comment on those specifically. But overall Chappelle's message rings loud and clear (to me) that LGBTQIA+ people, at the end of the day, are still "passing", whereas a black man in that part of the USA can never present as anything other than black, and that makes a HUGE difference.

The point does not stands on its own, rainbow people absolutely can have a hard time "passing", just ask the many gay kids bullied and harassed even when deep in the closet, without even mentioning trans folks.
Even if blackout drunk I managed to forget that, though, "you are fine if you hide who you are" is still a shitty argument to endorse.
A black trans person would absolutely have a hard time passing, but Dave's point is that being open about one's LGBTQIA+ status is a choice (arguably not much of one, except that people do it so... it CAN be put away, when someone is ready to "pass").
Mainly he's saying that black people are people too, and should be considered as such. He has pointed out how unfair he considers the situation that when white gay men wanted marriage equality, a Supreme Court decision came something like 10 years after the major push started, with everyone in Hollywood backing that. Meanwhile, black people have been waiting for equal rights in the USA for 400+ years, and it's like "when is it our turn?"
It seems all too convenient for white men who are also gay or trans or whatever to call it quits when they get theirs, leaving POC behind in the dust, again.
I find like many people judge him without ever even listening to his material, so of course cannot really understand it.

It seems no coincidence to me that after he started attacking the trans community, he invited Musk on stage and tried to defend him from the booing crowd.

I'm not sure the time line supports that. Dave was making tasteless and bigoted jokes about trans folk well before Elon/Netflix special. Who knows, maybe money was secretly changing hands. But even if so, Dave was the one to sell himself out. All the blame still falls directly to him.

It boggles my mind that this is the same guy who walked away from a multi-year, multimillion dollar TV deal with Comedy Central because he saw a white dude laughing a little too hard at his jokes about race. The fact that he could have that moment of reflection, but not extend it to other marginalized groups, just shows the complete lack of empathy he has in his soul.

The whole Comedy Central thing never sat well with me. Here’s my poor ass listening to this rich mother fucker who made it big, complain about how other rich fuckers “took his money”. It was never relatable, and it just felt like rich people feuding to me. That’s when I started to see Dave as a wealthy man first and above all. My instinct proved true when he just got worse and worse and became less and less human.
He can visits the hood and pretend he’s still from the streets all he wants, even though he never was. But I ain’t buying it. He likely gets back in his truck and uses the sanitizer and complains about the little people like diddy. He’s a fake and has no idea how real people live and think. He only hangs out with billionaires.

I started watching his latest Netfux special and he just wasn’t funny to me at all. Bragging about all his wealth, buying a white hippy town, defending his Saudi Arabia sellout because “haha I’m a rich n*gga”, and then a joke about a falcon killing a trans and “his dick popped out”, but it turns out killing a trans person only being a misdemeanour in SA. Har har. Just predicable, and felt like a real grift. Turned it off and watched some show with Fran Lebowitz instead - that one was at least pretty funny, if not also a grift.
As well as Chappelle went down on the Saudi’s for the hydrocarbon/haemoglobin infused cash?

He’s been making shitty trans jokes for about 10 years now. It’s so lazy…he needs to move on.
Maybe there's something worse out there, but his trans jokes I've seen are far from hateful. When Chappelle first got flak over this I was afraid the jokes would be flat out evil. They could hardly be more mild.
Can anyone point to a particular joke that's tearing trans people down? I don't mean poking fun, I want to see the hate you all accuse him of.
I don't think Chapelle deserves the level of hate he's received, but he was certainly punching down in his bid to play oppression Olympics. His whole point was one of being jealous that black people have a much longer road to acceptance that trans people. The problem is, because of his discomfort with the topic, his jokes fell flat, which leaves only the punching down. If you're going to cross the line, you better be funny, or people will only see malice.

I’ve gotten some good belly laughs from Dave’s material in the past, but he fell pretty flat here.
im surprised bobby lee went to, although i cant say im surprised his "Career" was pretty much in the dumps after madtv(per his own admission on his podcast") im guess he shills for them now. he probably needs the money more than any of the rich comedians, hes been in rehab for porn addiciton.
