glad they'll probably have to wire his mouth shut

They apparently failed to pay Anthony Joshua enough for him to take a dive.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 29 points 17 hours ago

Or he just got a wild hair and couldn't resist that punchable face, never mind the money.

I love my kitty cat. His name is Sammy. He’s trying to chew on my charging cord right now 😖

[–] kelpie_returns@lemmy.world 14 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Try pepper or ginger extract on the cords Sammy likes and, with a bit of patience, they'll probably eventually get the message. Probably.

So that's like a taste aversion solution for cats? My bfs cat keeps chewing on the plastic of a piddle pad we have to have out and it's a fucking arms race trying to keep her from chewing on it or ripping it away from where they are supposed to be. The pet stores have some sprays but it also keeps cats away from the area and I can't really do that because one of the piddle pads is near their litter box.

[–] kelpie_returns@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It is taste aversion, yes. With piddle pads I'm not sure this would be the right move since they'd be walking on them (potentially getting it on their paws which could be uncomfortable or even painful with too much exposure). I understand that living circumstances and the nature of cats might make this difficult, but is there any way to move the pads to an area she doesn't have access to? Seems like it'd be the most straigh-forward fix.

There is also the tried and tested positive reinforcement method. When you catch her engaging in unwanted behavior, you distract her with high value treats, toys, catnip, etc. It can feel a bit counterintuitive, like youre rewarding them for bad behavior kind of, and it can take quite some time before you see results, but persistence and patience with it is rewarded way more often than not. It always depends on the individual cat's personality ofc, but ime it has worked with 4/5 of the cats I've raised.

Its also very likely that she might just wants to chew something. This is common in kittens (teething, I think?). Many cats dont take to them, but you could try chew toys. Most of the ones for cats are drugged (silvervine and/or catnip), but with a kitten I'd recommend the 'grass stick' ones to start. If that doesn't work/she doesnt like them, then it might be time to try silvervine sticks. Cats be getting silly on them drugs tho. Mixing that with behavior training can muddy results ime, but i am no expert on the topic. I just like cats lol

Good luck!

My bfs cat is an adult cat, and the piddle pads are for my older cat who sometimes pees to the left of the litter box (I've talked to the vet about it and they don't know why she does it, the assumption is just old age) so I can't really move the pads. Both cats love chewing on plastic for whatever reason, but my bfs cat especially likes nibbling on the edges of the piddle pads.

I've never heard of chew toys for cats. If it's something that will get them to stop chewing plastic I'll def have to look into it.

Thank you for your help :)

More rich assholes should fight in a ring. They all like the idea of it but they rarely do it.

[–] ISOmorph@feddit.org 53 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

Pepperridge farm remembers when Elon Schmuck wanted to fight the Zuck. He got cold feet real quick tho.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 24 points 19 hours ago

Elon got his mom to bail him out. It was so pathetic.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Zuck is into Jui Jitsu, he can probably actually beat you up.

Oh man i forgot about this. I was so looking forward to that. I didn't care who won, but honestly would've loved a WWE style 3rd person come in and beat both of them down.

So in this case, a double win.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

Me. Happy to know this clown got his jaw broke. Sad Joshua stooped for low as to take this fight.

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 11 points 5 hours ago

Honestly, I can't blame Joshua. A legal, sanctioned opportunity to smack that gob? Sign me up.
