Omnibus bills. Oh you want this one thing? Well we can only do that if we do these other 20 unrelated things at the same time.

This is a consequence of America wanting to pretend that the rest of the government has to be funded in accordance with the constitutional guard against a standing army.
The only thing that Congress does that has a constituonal time limit is fund the army.
Fascists, mostly.
The people who least deserve power most desire it, and vice versa
Ultra wealthy/powerful people existing. It's the one problem that leads to all other problems in politics.
Leftism basically doesn’t exist in America
To me it's the fighting. I know the intolerance paradox well, but the extreme polarization keeps sizzling up in meaningless ideological fights. If politics was boring again and we'd look at what laws do and whether we want them, we'd all be more productive.
I do not care for things that suck, I only care when can also change them. And thus I have learned to withdraw from the things I can't change. I would do a lot if my life had an impact on Gaza, Ukraine or anything else, but until I get there, I need to remember that I also need to keep myself happy and engaged. I learn things and make things, and when I can vote I'll vote again, and when there's a big protest I'll join. This way I escape depression and retain my will to live.
There's too much of that going on.
It isn't because we don't care about Taiwan, Ukraine, Gaza, Palestine, Hong Kong .etc when we say we can't do much for them. It is because we physically can't, because we're not in positions of power that would help make that change. All we are, are just voices and there is only so much voices could do and those voices ended up getting silenced because of people in positions of power.
You really threw Taiwan and Hong Kong in a list next to Palestine… liberals man.
Religious nonsense (in particular, Roman Catholicism, which is enforced in the US government).
Idealogues.
The large portion of people are stupid and ignorant, which means that democracy is inherently flawed because they can be manipulated so easily.
Smart informed people can be manipulated as well.
It's a flaw in how our brains have evolved. (Evolution is such a random bitch of a force, just look at me anthropomorphize her while typing on a QWERTY keyboard specifically designed to slow me down!)
We need to account for it instead of using it against ourselves.
Not sure about "unique"... but it bothers me how bad lots of people are with their documents and tools. In my country we have transparency laws for financing and it's going to say like [xyz department] - 15 million. And I have no idea what that department does. No website, no documents, the projects they do are not public, etc.. How am I supposed to decide if I am happy with what they do?
And how lenient some institutions are when something that needs to deliver proof of something doesn't actually deliver that proof.
The assumption of innocence is great when it comes to individual people need to defend themselves against injustice. It's awful for fighting systematic problems that stare you right in the face, but as long as you don't have proof of intention, it's just "oopsie woopsie".
It's for all but does not help all.
If I disagree with you I'm a Nazi
I have notes!
That (depending on the country) all politicians continuously lie and that were sort of okay with that. We shouldn't, and at the very first lie they should be called out, hard, and three strikes, you're out
That we have political parties where everyone has to do what the party says. I'd rather have all independent politicians,, vote for those
That many democracies call themselves democracies yet they use the first past the post system and their politica have moved to the point where you wonder if it's still democracy
What companies have such a disproportionate amount of power. Companies should, in the end, exist for the people. The people should ALWAYS go before companies
That politicians can be in charge of something without having the slightest clue what that subject is. You should be an expert in the field to get a field. That also goes for IT, by the way. Fuck, so many politicians are so dumb and tech illiterate yet have to vote about tech.
That the rich still exist. Im fiine with capitalism, it works well to generate wealth which COULD be for everyone but people seem to be okay with the rich and ultra rich? I want to see hard cap limits on personal and company wealth. Anything, income, gifts, whatever, that goes over that limit goes 100% straight to taxes. Below that limit we need 10-20 more brackets, where the lowest incomes pay barely or no taxes at all as they likely can't. The highest will pay on the 90% range and the next bracket is 100.
That politicians (mostly US politicians though, it's a hobby there) can pass laws that are called "protect the children from pedophiles" while when you looked into the law, its "yeah, show us all your chats and the real pedophiles will find other ways to communicate anyways so this won't stop shit, law". Especially the US has a hand of this where almost any law these days has a pretty acronym like S.H.I.E.L.D. or something and in reality, for it's content, it should be names C.H.I.L.D.K.I.L.L.E.R.
That lobbyists are allowed to exist. Yeah, I get it, but no. I think that lobbyists are. Any negative for society as companies abuse the shit out of them. Maybe if companies aren't allowed to have lobbyists, and are limited in size and power, maybe we could allow lobbyists ONLY for foundations that support vulnerable groups or entities
Same for companies, but limit it to 1 billion or so and 1000 employees max. Need more employees for a mega project that requires multiple companies to work together. Instead of one trillion dollar company, I want a million million dollar companies
Then, we don't mix alcohol and wine and tequila, we all know it ends in shit yet somehow most people still think it's okay to mix religion into politics as if that's a great thing. Fuck religions. If you have one, sorry, but you're believing at the level of a 5 year old that Santa is real. Politicians should all be atheist as far as I'm concerned
Human stupidty and arrogance.
Even when I share the purported beliefs of someone, the vast majority of people are so fucking smug and insistent on being right, that discussing politics ain't likely with me.
Then, you run into the fact that people tend to treat it like an identity and just mouth what they think they're supposed to believe without ever actually thinking about it. It isn't even just the people that are raised in one party/bloc/whatever and stick with it. Even the ones that change allegiance tend to treat it as some kind of granfaloon, but not the harmless kind. Shit, that's that case with unaffiliated people too, it isn't limited to party members.
Like, yeah, we all think we're right, but when that turns into smug self aggrandizement, fuck that.
That's the shit that bothers me about politics, that people can't just fucking chill and vote their conscience, they gotta be right, and feel superior about it.
That may not seem to be the kind of thing you're asking about, but it's one of the sessions those abysmal laws happen.
