News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

MODERATORS

Reddit banned me for seemingly no reason. Twice. I'm sticking to Lemmy. I don't know how the moderators at reddit even function. The entire process is beyond shady. Not only do they not tell you why you were banned but they literally don't even tell you that you are banned. They let you just browse thinking everything is fine until you realize that every single post you make gets automatically deleted That your PFP suddenly disappears. that your achievements don't seem to work Then if you try to type in your account into a browser you're not logged in at, only then will you see that you're banned. Then if you can figure out how to get to the appeals page, which for some reason two of exists, even though they are identical, Reddit not only doesn't ever bother responding at all, but they don't even acknowledge that they received the appeal. Not even an automated message. Nothing. I don't know any other social media site that does this its just wild to me. Anyway, I'm here to rant about it because I can't rant on Reddit.๐Ÿคฃ hope you guys enjoyed the rant

Well the mods on Lemmy are little to no different. I guess the difference is, is that lemmy mods can just ban you by taking word of some idiot's story. Oh and they also are prone for not being descriptive about why they banned you.

Which is no better.

A more important difference is that you can just change instances with Lemmy.

Reddits systems likely use AI, which develops all kinds of false positives. So it's much worse.

This exactly what it is. And I wouldn't even mind that much if there was actual oversight of the AI and they actually investigated appeals like they are supposed to instead of just ignoring people, which they do. At the very least, I think that they owe users an explanation of the reasons why they were banned, instead of just silence when you are appealing. On top of that, what's funny is actual spam bots thrive on Reddit. It's innocent people who get punished by these bans, not bots And I don't mean just me. I mean there's an entire community on r/shadowban of people that have experienced the exact same thing and the exact same complete ignoring of appeals. It's just so frustrating. And then you got people like the guy commenting above just going, "well, you probably deserved it."when I've done nothing but contribute positively to the Reddit community for the last three years. But despite that one idiot above, I'm still thankful that at least I have somewhere to go to rant about my frustration lol

A shadow ban is not a normal ban. It's used when the moderators think that your reaction to the ban would be a major issue, they shadow ban you. Given that you tried to ban-evade, they were probably right about it.

Given that the original ban was for no reason and I am not a bot a spammer or a scammer, no "they were not right about me" Just as they aren't right about the many many members of r/Shadowban that experince the exact same thing. Just as they aren't right about IGNORING appeales not so much as even REPLYING or even giving a reason for the ban. I don't know why you're on Lemmy sucking reddits dick and making assumptions about me but I came here to get away from Reddit not to hear typical reddit talking points like this.
