The Somali American lawmaker's comment comes after the noted racist and Homeland Security adviser essentially said migrants are ruining the U.S.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said on Sunday that the dehumanizing language used against immigrants by noted racist and Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller is similar to how Nazis spoke of Jewish people.

Miller, who was the architect behind the Trump administration’s immigration policies, used such language last month in response to a Wall Street Journal op-ed urging Americans to refrain from demonizing all Afghan refugees, after one allegedly shot two National Guard members in Washington, D.C.

“This is the great lie of mass migration. You are not just importing individuals. You are importing societies,” Miller said on X. “No magic transformation occurs when failed states cross borders. At scale, migrants and their descendants recreate the conditions, and terrors, of their broken homelands.”

Stephen Miller IS a sweaty, bumbling, neo-nazi who never got punched in the mouth when spouting his hate.

Edit: auto correct felt neo-nazi should be capitalized.

There's still hope. I'm reminded of Puscifer's song The Remedy.

No shit. He's a fucking Nazi in everything except maybe in name, though I wouldn't be shocked to learn he identifies as one in private. And no, it doesn't matter that he's Jewish.

I mean, have you seen what Israel has been up to lately?

"Nazi rhetoric from a nazi resembles nazi language used by previous nazies."

If we're going to reflect on history honestly then we should remember that it wasn't the white supremacy aspect that other European powers took issue with regarding Nazis. That was an accepted fact from their perspective. The British and French had an appeasement policy towards the Nazis until they attacked Poland. The main issue was expansionist imperialism.

Seeing the horrors of the holocaust definitely led to some self reflection on what it means to be human among European white supremacists but that was after the fact.

This is why it's naive to think the war had any chance at ending Nazism. To end Nazism one has to end white supremacy and that's a lot easier said than done.

Why is the title phrased like this? I hate the modern news climate where everything is presented as opinions. It is a FACT that he is using Nazi rhetoric, and she's not the only one saying it.

It’s giving credit to one of the few rare Democrats thats actually willing to oppose the Nazi takeover.

[–] bumblefumble@mander.xyz 17 points 2 days ago

Doesn't matter if he's ordering something at McDonald's, everything that man says is by definition Nazi language.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Yeah, no shit. That's kind of the point.

Of course, Stephen Miller is so fucking full of himself and so fucking idiotic that he actually believes that if he were to stoke the kind of thing he seems to truly want, that they will eventually come for HIM, too. Because, duh: he's JEWISH. Does he think it would work out any differently to align himself with people that want to exterminate all Jews?

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People have been saying that about Stephen Miller since before Trump's first presidency.

It's just as unsurprising as Elon Musk's Nazi salutes on stage at a GOP convention.

The reason Musk accidentally makes Nazi salutes when he gets excited is that he's a Nazi.

The reason Stephen Miller's rhetoric is the same as Nazi rhetoric is that he's a Nazi.

I'm not speaking metaphorically. I don't mean "Neo Nazi". I mean that Stephen Miller, like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, idolizes Nazi Germany, and in all likelihood, literally thinks of himself as a Nazi.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

literally thinks of himself as a Nazi.

It'd be funny if we actually had a more combative media, and they could ask this overly vocal pipsqueak questions like: "You seem to adore Hitler and think of yourself as someone like him. Give what we now suspect about him, do you also have a micropenis?"

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

And which broken homeland are Miller’s ancestors from?

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

And yet…. Nothing will be done about it. But I’m glad we have these people to tell us that a spade is a spade. How else would we know otherwise?

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 7 points 1 day ago

No magic transformation occurs

No shit Sherlock? It's not magic. It's called intergration, and it's your job to make it happen. How about taking some fucking responsibility in the position that you have been chosen to do? I guess nobody wants to work anymore.
