10/10 would go to Iceland again.

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 9 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I got to do 24 hours in Reykjavik for a layover in early winter. Absolutely wonderful city

Actually my dream trip is the 10 day lap of Iceland, so yes, 1000% I will. Also, saved for future reference 😊

This restaurant is single handedly responsible for completely 180ing my attitudes on seafood. It broke me lmfao. I'm so thankful I was brought there.

[–] scytale@piefed.zip 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Roughly how much did the 10-day trip cost?

I did my Master's on a site in the region a decade ago. Suppose it depends on what you want.

[–] spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Haha that's dangerous news - I am already a passionate seafood fan but alas, live in the dry lands.

Another comment you said you did your Master's there. Can I ask if you enjoyed the experience? I've wondered about doing a European masters but Iceland had never crossed my mind until today

Do it. Dm me. I'm currently in an airport but will yap when I can. I actually did the program in Scotland but my study site was in Iceland. I think I did apply to Iceland though. I took Icelandic in college. :] It's a cool place.

We did a week and did day tours. Not as adventurous but still a blast. Definitely want to go again and drive the golden circle!

I live in Ísafjörður, this is the only place where I will eat fish by choice, well, this place and if me or my dad cook it.

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 2 points 13 hours ago

Blessuð! Já, I believe it. One day I'll be back. :)

They had this outside the last time I went.

I've played enough Dark Souls to know the guy in the armour is about to get his shit fucked up.

Great views up at the top of the tower

I was lucky(?) enough that the volcano was going off whilst I was up there a couple of years ago and got some great pictures

[–] artifactsofchina@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Umm, wow!

Feel like this comment deserves more attention.

Would you share any of those photos?

Incredible.

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 2 points 9 hours ago

That is hauntingly beautiful... and an incredible shot! Thank you so much for sharing!

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I second the photo sharing

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago

Just replied to the other comment

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 23 hours ago

I was about to say! I've been there (only on the outside though, I can't enter churches without spontaneous combustion)

[–] qevlarr@lemmy.world 5 points 22 hours ago

Very recognizable and everyone who has ever been to Iceland has probably seen it.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

...and it's gorgeous.

The pancake truck is parked outside daily, but never open when I was there. This is religion inaccessible to the people even in viking paradise.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 9 hours ago

I wonder if it was inspired by the columnar jointing formations you can find in Iceland?

collapsed inline mediaa cliff made entirely of columnar rocks with extremely straight, well aligned cuboid formations. The overall effect is that the cliff looks like it’s made of nearly identical thin, tall rocks

A very average looking church.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 21 points 20 hours ago (3 children)
[–] Morphit@feddit.uk 6 points 15 hours ago

It's à la mode right now.

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 3 points 17 hours ago

Ahh, you sum' biche! I've now lost all confidence in my ability to catch a pun

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 2 points 9 hours ago

Meh, I prefer median myself:-).

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 9 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

For a second, I thought you were being smug or something? And then the whoosh dawned on me... brava

Edit: I guess I was behind the curve on that one?

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 6 points 12 hours ago

I'd say it's a normal one.

Apostates! May all unbelievers of the Holy Stats be stricken with plague? (Unfortunately Americans might do just that🥴🙃😭)

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

That seems likely

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 13 points 19 hours ago

It's deistically significant to plus or minus 2 parishioners.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 8 points 20 hours ago

And on the second slope you can see the 20% prediction interval

White Walkers' church

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 19 hours ago

This a doomsday church?
