We really need age restrictions for positions of office. There's no way a 91 y/o should be making decisions for everyone.

He was a good boy!

Apropos of nothing, is there anything in the US constitution that says the President has to be a human?

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 13 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, ofc, none of them would qualify otherwise.

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I think it's the other way around. None of them are human, I mean trump is a fruit, an orange. So why not dogs?

[–] makeshiftreaper@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Explicitly, no. The rules are you have to be a natural-born citizen of the United States, be at least 35 years old, and have been a resident of the United States for 14 years. To my knowledge citizenship can only be granted to humans though so in effect, yes

[–] Dagnet@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

This is the premise of a 90s movie isn't it?

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Depends on the definition of "persons"

[–] obre@slrpnk.net 11 points 3 days ago

The gerontocracy even extends to dogs smh my head

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 10 points 3 days ago

The streets ran red with the blood of his enemies

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There's no rule that says a dog can't be mayor

The Air Bud Cinematic Universe is a lawless hellscape

I want the next installment of the Air Bud franchise to be Bud running for president. A fun for the whole family movie where love and friendship overcome the machinations of a bumbling narcissistic billionaire.

Middle America will love it

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 days ago

And then when he wins, he starts bombing boats in international waters

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Bud's gonna have to be pretty old. I suggest cryonics.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Bumbling narcissistic Nazi wanna be billionaire

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

They made him a little hat too!!

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The unelected officials having the mayoral power behind the scenes were having laugh.

They could literally do anything and blame it on a dog.

And people kept voting for him because of being a dog.

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Somehow I don't think the people who were performing mayoral duties on behalf of the dog were hidden behind the scenes. Especially since it's a tiny little town; everyone knows everyone else.

i mean he's no mayor of albequerque but then again he's no mayor of albequerque

collapsed inline media

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Duke for president!

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

For an old, white, career politician, he looks exceptionally trustworthy.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Only way to make sure they have a good mayor though, more precisely, it's a good boy mayor.

More seriously, it's another data point for the theory around politicians that "even a rock would do a better job".

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think a literal dog would be a better president than anyone we've had since Johnson.

uh, Andrew or Lyndon?
