Forever cementing the fact that Republicans are fraudsters and liars.
All of them. Prove me wrong.
Sounds like fraud to me
Well yeah, that's why she picked republican.
What a fucking cunt
Democrat voters should re-register as Republicans and vote for Democrat.
I'm not American, so excuse me if I sound dumb, but how would that mess with republicans? Like, what's even the point of registering if you can vote for whomever you like anyway?
The 'democratic party [DNC]' and the 'republican party [RNC]' are two private companies that have hijacked the electoral system. They (sometimes, but not always) hold 'primary' elections to choose which candidate they will run in the actual election. If you are registered with the party, then you can vote in the primary elections to choose their candidate. If, for instance, I were to register republican (me, a dirty commie) then I would vote for the primary candidate that I was most certain would lose in the actual election. Anyone can vote in the real election, so i could stay registered as republican and vote for their worst candidate in the primary, then I could go to the real election and waste my vote on a third-party socialist candidate. (I put a lot of irony in my description here, but I hope its still clear why someone would register for the opposite party). [EDIT: I have just learned that each state has a different setup for who is allowed to vote in primaries, so this scenario is not universal. Thanks to Baron Von J comment below]
Wow... I had no idea... Thanks for the write-up (and I love your irony, but your meaning came through loud and clear)!!
It's called a closed primary and fewer than half the states do it that way. Here in Texas, the primaries are open, but voting in a primary affiliates you to that party for that one calendar year so that only those who voted in the original primary can vote in any run-off elections from the primary.
I did not know this! I thought they were all closed primaries.
Primaries vary state by state, in some you have a jungle primary where you don't have to register for that party. And railroad commissioner is a bigger deal than it sounds because it has a lot of power over semi related things.
In racist NC, you are only allowed to vote for the party you are registered to in many towns, counties, and municipalities. They DO NOT like people registering as independent, since they can vote for both parties or whoever fits their needs the best. I've been an independent for years because i don't want to be targeted by the violent GOP if they see me registered as a dem.

Oh they'll still get ya, worry not
How many times has this happened and we're all like oh well that sucks anyways???
That is fucking fraud! You LIED AND CHEATED the public. This "administration" ofc will allow this and nothing will happen...
Hmm, any cunning Dems wanna try the same stunt, see how it goes for them?
I'm actually charmed by the idea of someone running in a deep blue district with the message "You remember how much we fucking hated Joe Manchin? Well, elect me as a Republican, and I'll be the most goddamn Democratic Republican in recorded history, and they won't be able to do a goddamn thing about it."
As large of a violence fettish the repugs have I am sure there would be no threats of a lynching.
I'm thinking that the person who did this (R) will face no consequences for their out right lie, but there would be legal consequences for a dem doing the same thing. Source: lived history ;)
Not a fan of the bait and switch, and I haven't really looked into her beyond this article so I can't say if this is the case
But I kind of wonder if this isn't actually a pretty good strategy.
A whole lot of Texans aren't going to vote for anyone who doesn't have an R next to their name, regardless of if they actually like their policies or not.
So maybe if you just do everything as a Democrat would do but register as a Republican and don't talk about it too much, you can slip one by them and get the idiots to vote for an actual RINO.
Of course the trick is getting the word out there to get Dems to vote for someone without a D next to their name as well without clueing in the Republicans that that's what's going on. The Republicans are a little more used to listening for dog whistles than Democrats are.
Maybe a clever trick to be safely voted and then switch back and work for the Democrats' agenda ?
