LOL imagine banning an account from an organization that just fined you 130 million Euros and having the gall to pretend like it's not about the fine...

Why even bother? Who is going to believe that?

[–] someacnt@sh.itjust.works 30 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Sadly, there are too many stupid people in the world who would just gobble up that shit.

Based on historical trends I think we can safely say that 30% of humans are dumb enough to believe anything, another 30% will believe anything that mocks those dummies, and the other 30% don't vote. The remaining 10% said they believe lizards run the government and voted for Nader... In 2024

I appreciate that this article from July in the San Francisco Standard tells me everything I need to know.

Nikita Bier is a serial entrepreneur with the heart of a troll

Imagine joining X in June of 2025 and thinking you “made it.” Gross.

I don't even understand what it is they supposedly did. How does a link deceive people into thinking it's a video? And why would that artificially increase its reach? And isn't the point of paying for ads to have a specific predetermined reach and for that reach to be independent of user interaction? I'm so confused.

[–] cron@feddit.org 62 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And if this is a known exploit, why not fix it?

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They fired all the capable people.

Nah, they're just full of shit.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 0 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

That would imply there were any to begin with.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago

Twitter didn't become one of the most influential social networks by accident.

Seems like people who regularly use the word “irony” don’t often appreciate when it truly occurs.

Wasn't NOT advertising on X said to be illegal collusion against the platform? Shouldn't they be thrilled to host ads for the EU?

[–] artyom@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

Only if you collude with other companies to do do...

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

My people, please. There's no confusion here. It's simply that Xitter* will ban, sue, or whatever depending on what benefits a certain Nazi with fake hair, regardless of truth.

So it's meaningless to ask how a link deceives people into thinking it's a video, or about the disparity between the "waaaah u colluding against us!" drama and this situation, or why they didn't fix the exploit. (Or if there's an exploit to begin with.)

*read the X as SH.

It is in fact the point of the troll, to make the people railing against its unfairness look stupid and whiny.

[–] girst@feddit.org 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

to post a link that deceives users into thinking it’s a video

... what? but it is a video: https://xcancel.com/EU_Commission/status/1996968219286904832

They are Nazis, don’t expect anything else. It’s Twitter after all, the platform that’s openly a Nazi bar.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I haven’t used Twitter in so many years (long before that shithead stepped through the doors holding a sink). 🤷‍♂️

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 day ago

I mean... Stop using the platform?

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Blue checkmarks fund Nazis… grow a spine and delete your account. Step away from the Nazi table. Simple as that.

I call it "the badge of dishonor."

[–] atrielienz@lemmy.world 10 points 19 hours ago

I'm so mad that you took money I rightfully grifted that I'm not going to let you give me money anymore?

Did he think. Ha. Never mind. I can't even say it with a straight face. God he's an infantile lunatic.

[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Why are any headlines being written about Xitter that aren't about its bankruptcy.

Because propaganda firms often do run at a loss, making money not being the real point.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

At this point I wish EU would grow a spine and just put out a final post saying that at the very least they're moving all operations to BlueSky. It'd be amazing if they moved to Mastodon, but that's still a pipedream.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 23 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

the eu has been on mastodon for years. they run their own instance.

[–] white_nrdy@programming.dev 2 points 1 hour ago

I was about to say that I would fully expect that any government entity should run their own instance of various federated services. And all departments/whatever should be on said instance. This would go for chrt platforms as well, such as matrix

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

Huh, good to know.
