National standards might change, but I’m betting California and some other states will still hold car manufacturers to a higher standard.
Reasonable, but this shit still fucking pisses me off
Just tax fuel more and let math do the work. Europeans are shifting to EVs because environment? It's because gasoline is $7.50 a gallon and they can do math.
Fuel efficiency—the measurement for getting more mileage out of the same amount of gasoline. Congratulations, MAGA voters, you played yourself! When you pick up that new pile of trash made by Ford or Stellantis (and I know you will because they're AMERICAN* cars), I hope you enjoy the higher gas expenses that you voted for.
* With the extra irony being that many of those "American" brands are owned by Stellantis, which isn't even headquartered anywhere in North America.
They already played themselves by picking the 'American' vehicles. They are all trash and hard to work on.
The Japanese ones are really the only ones built for longevity and ease of maintenance.
Shame SAAB went away. No one beat them on longevity. Volvo comes close, but even they don't have hundreds of cars with 2,000,000 miles on the odometer. SAAB hasn't made a car since 2011 and keeps adding cars to the list.
My buddy has a Volvo and had to spend $200 to replace one of his headlight hubs because it got rainwater in it.
They made it to where you have to hook it up to a Volvo computer because it needs proprietary software to set up with the rest of the car. None of the local mechanics would even touch it and all told us the same reason why.
So the plan is to sell inbred rednecks thirstier trucks, while gasoline demand is decreasing and will become a niche product in a decade.

Oh I can't wait for the next non-Repulican president so they can print more dumbass stickers saying "I did that" when the price goes up.

Its really fucked up man. I'm not a communist at all but I start to understand why people would want to go the complete opposite way of this system.
Its basically "I don't give a fuck how many people die or even if we destroy the entire world in the process I just want to generate more money for the people at the 'top'" and its really sad.
There's absolutely no reason to do this, other than generate more money at the expense of the citizens and the entire planet.
Why the fuck is the president rolling back or setting any regulation? That’s what congress is for. Also, for example, they are supposedly handling tariffs and upholding the constitution. Their duties include impeaching and removing from office presidents that violate their oaths and the constitution.
Yes I know we’re in this mess due to the combo of an evil fascist president and a weak corrupt congress. And decades of congress allowing presidential power to escalate.

They still are, everywhere that isn't the US or parts of Canada
This wasn't very popular in the fossil fuel industry, they've done everything in their power to stop BEV and electricity
Just another horrible thing in a long line of horrible things both Trump admins have done. Wrt climate action, leaving the Paris Agreement was the big one. After that, this - perversely - feels like par for the course.
