Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

What is the purpose of your video?
There isn't one. I'm just here until I die.
Why the reddit tracking link?
...where is the tracking link?
The link is video embed, extracted using focusred for Android.
What is the purpose of a snail or a polar bear or a single blade of grass with their life?
That is my purpose.
What is the purpose of a snail or a polar bear or a single blade of grass with their life?
That is my purpose.
So... reproduction? Have offsprings, then die?
💀
You're imposing a purpose on them, not all of them will reproduce
Survival and reproduction aren't the purpose, they are simply structural. Perhaps, simply as experiences, they could be of the purpose.
That's the purpose of a species, not of an individual. I'm not sure they actually have i dividual purpose. Sure they want to survive, bit that's more of a goal than a purpose.
If that is your interpretation then maybe that is your purpose.
If you ask a biologist this will probably be the answer.
To crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentation of their women!
To grow, experience, and create.
This life, that means exploring the manifold between spiritual and physical reality, and making cool shit happen, as well as reconciling 'paradoxes'. To play with the rules. To explore the connection of love and power. To face fears.
Earlier: similar, but with more fears to face.
To provide you data.
I guess the purpose is to explore that question, for me that's it.
Converting cheese into gas.
To pass butter.
To suffer
To piss and to shit?
Longterm I want my purpose to be to create innovation in research and agricultural robotics without having to work for a capitalistic company with the sole purpose of making my boss more wealthy.
Lives don't have purpose
Apparently to be fuckin sad all the time
I live to die
Convert wine into urine.
The purpose(s) that drive me are:
- share helpful knowledge and experience where they're welcome
- sow beauty and light where I can
- hopefully bring levity, a chuckle, and maybe a way out when things are dark
- build strong communities wherever I can
- elevate those around me and hopefully improve their day
- strive to leave my spheres of influence better than I found them
- find the positive or at least an opportunity for me to learn
- enjoy the trip
This incarnation? To achieve moksha and never come back. Fingers crossed!
It's all meaningless anyway, so my purpose is to appreciate the joy of what is in front of me and enjoy my existence while it lasts.
to trust God
