Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I'm sure someone has had this thought before, but this just hit me like a sack of potatoes this morning. Everything is soup.

Toothpaste is just condensed tooth soup. Cream of tooth.

Aren't humans just a soup?

[–] UNY0N@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 day ago

That's what YOU think! I eat MY cereal using my fists! Straight from the box! I go in dry!

I had a bowl of nails for breakfast this morning... without any milk

[–] cobysev@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Depends on how much milk you add to it. Personally, I see it as more of a breakfast stew; more solid food in the bowl than liquid.

But isn't a Stew ultimately another form of Soup?

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Stew is fat based(i.e. milk), soup is water based.

Isn't salad just soup without water?

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Good point. I was going to say gazpacho.

And salad is just solid soup

[–] 0178877@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Prior research has been done on this topic, actually. Alternatively, soup is just a wet salad, but tomato tomato (especially when added to either)

And people say philosophy degrees are a waste of time

And hot tubs make human broth

[–] Realspecialguy@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Uhg. Omg. Lol, it sounds terrible, but ive definitely basted in sweaty, skin particley, stale water that is a hot tub, many times before... and BTW, sex in a hot tub is not as fun as you think... in fact, it out right sucks, dont even bother.

So sweat, skin particles, butt stuff, and cum... community hot tubs are terrible... sorry i went off there for sec

Mmmmm…. soup….

Throw some carrots, onion, and celery in there and you’re golden baby!

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

No it isn't; I do make soup out of my cereal like other weirdos.

I tried milk on cereal twice, puked both times. I just always ate dry cereal.

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Doesn't your mouth get dry? Do you drink water while eating it? Do you use a spoon and bowl? What cereal do you eat?

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 1 points 16 hours ago

I recently found out gluten was a source of trouble (probably coeliac but not confirmed just yet), so none anymore. However, for the first 30ish years of my life: cereal in a bowl with a spoon. Cinnamon Toast Crunch as an adult treat, other boring health cereals (some kinda bran thing, I think a Special K one at some point, etc.), and Alphabits a lot as a kid. Also sometimes Cheerios, Frosted Flakes, and others depending upon what we could afford. I would just have some normal beverage alongside it but I don't remember feeling particularly compelled to drink more.

The only thing I disagree with is the breakfast part.

[–] EtAl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

And everything else is just soup without the broth. E.g. steak soup, concrete soup, thermal nuclear warfare soup.

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

I had dry hot dog and potato bun soup for lunch.
