Funny how she was hated for years by the left and she was fine. Hated by the right for a few days and she felt the need to hire security and then resign.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 38 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Obviously it’s because the far left terrorist antifa are so insidious they make their death threats silently, so that no one else even knows. Only the brave and courageous MAGA warn the actual victim.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 10 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

She wasn't "hated by the right for a few days", her life and her family were threatened. She hired more security and still doesn't feel safe now that maga freaks are against her. For all its faults, that's the difference between Democrats and Republicans...

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 35 points 4 hours ago

I think that's their point

[–] higgsboson@piefed.social 17 points 4 hours ago

Indeed, you have grasped the salient point.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 64 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

She announced her resignation (just ever so conveniently) a couple days after her pension ability kicked in, and after she'd made millions in stock trades.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

But also after she wanted to run for Senate but Trump said "no," so I don't think this was all about cashing in on a government pension and quitting or she wouldn't have had those aspirations.

This is likely because she supported the release of the Epstein files and Trump wasn't happy. He's already called her a traitor because of this.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

She also burned Trump by championing the Epstein file release. Her voting base has rebelled and she knows there is no re-election in her future no matter where she goes. As much as I do not like her and her politics she literally sacrificed herself before leaving. It was a grand show to likely hide your point that she just passed the pension cut off. But it was one hella of a way to go. MAGA is in shambles.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 43 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Whatever her reasons for doing so, she was calling out Trump for some of his bullshit, and that was getting the arguments on Fox "News", which meant a few MAGA were hearing it, possibly for the first time. That was good.

I can only imagine the pressure put on her to quit. It's no surprise she caved.

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 24 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I heard a rumor maga chuds were making death threats.

[–] capt_wolf@lemmy.world 15 points 5 hours ago

Huh... Must suck being on the end of those.

Hey... What's this? And this? Oh jeeze, and a movement to censure?

Yup, must really suck...

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Right? Boo hoo.

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 18 points 3 hours ago

These mfers get a pension after five years? And they keep it if they quit? Like why aren't more of them giving up early access to information for stock trades?

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 16 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Is she stepping back to run for a different office? Did the death threats get to her? Did she make enough money and contacts she doesn't need to do this shit anymore? Only time will tell since you can't trust them to be honest!

[–] 474D@lemmy.world 13 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

She made 22mil, retirement time

[–] higgsboson@piefed.social 5 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

In reality, most people dont stop once they reach "retirement money."

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 hours ago

People have retirement money?

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

People say that, but I moved to China immediately when I had retirement money and haven't worked since

[–] higgsboson@piefed.social 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I know it does happen some but it seems rare. Also anecdotal but most of the people I know who had it made like that had gotten their money as salespeople and/or at a tech startup and just kept on chasing that rabbit. Likely just a different cross-section of people who are more ambitious (or greedy.)

I'd love to see an actual study of it, especially comparing vocations.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I plan to stop as soon as o have retirement money. I’ll be close to 90 then but I’ll stop

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 5 points 5 hours ago

She made her money, that's all. The rest is just theatre.

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago

I was just starting to warm up to her. I mean, she's still a vile human being, don't get me wrong, but she was at LONG LAST asking the correct questions, only to be immediately shut down. I hope MAGA takes note of this.

Oh, who am I kidding. Trump could personally rape their kids and they'd still defend him.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 13 points 1 hour ago

. . . on Saturday morning, Trump dubbed Greene “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown.”

Geez he really is losing it. That's weak.

All the kids were saying Perjury Traitor Greed six years ago.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 11 points 5 hours ago

She's up to something.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 11 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

What a loss. Oh the humanity!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 10 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Bye, bitch.

May she feel, every minute of every day, the same existential fear for her safety and life that she's made a career of making every minority and woman in America feel.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 25 minutes ago

She's going to get some kind of cushy book tour from the #NeverTrump Republicans and cash in on her "I'm in the president's party but I don't like him" the same way Ron Paul dined out as an anti-Bush Republican for over a decade.

Nothing bad ever actually happens to these people, with the special exception of Charlie Kirk

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

So what is the local election likely for the state? Was it close last time? Are there good potential progressives or at least a dem who could win? Does this potentially tip the Senate a bit?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Well the AP chose to quote the county republiQan chairman as to the next steps to fill her seat.

Which probably was on purpose. Even though it's going to be an open special election so hey - Social Democrats of . . . wherever in Georgia - now's the time

[–] Nastybutler@lemmy.world 1 points 18 minutes ago

It temporarily narrows the House majority even further. It's a very red district, so the next rep will almost certainly be a Republican unfortunately

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago

Is this necessary? Is there a mandatory resignation period? Wish it would happen faster.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 28 minutes ago

She criticized the party too loudly and too often. Bet she got told to leave. Wonder what compromising material they have on her to force her out.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

Came here to post this, but you beat me to it.
